Author's Notes: I wrote this after reading 161, but before 162 (or the special for that matter), because I was bored (I'm new to the series, so first Host Club wait) and it was kind of a bet with my roomate, since I was pretty sure this would be the immediate outcome, and I was mostly right. I wouldn't even have posted it, except the mangaka forgot the sulfur-bath-smell, so I decided to include it in my next post. This takes place immediately after Chapter 161, Hikaru's just confessed, but Haruhi hasn't had a chance to answer or become confused, because Tamaki is the King of awkward timing. Here he comes!
"Daddy's here!" Tamaki shouted as he fell into the room with the rest of the club behind him. "What happened? Kyouya, you jerk, you didn't tell me hardly anything!" Tamaki finally made it to the bed, pushing Haruhi into Mori-sempai in the process. The stoic giant was prepared for the possibility and caught her, but still Hikaru fumed. Tamaki had done that on purpose. "Has he seen a doctor? We have to get you off this horrible mountain right away! Kyouya, call your nearest hospital."
"To-no," Hikaru bit off, half-smothered by Tamaki's frantic behavior and ignorance of simple concepts like personal space.
"Hikaru," Tamaki leaned back, his hands still on Hikaru's shoulders. "Are you alright?"
Hikaru lost all steam. Tamaki had rushed up here because he thought that Hikaru was hurt. Tamaki was worried about Hikaru. It had been pretty stupid to get jealous of the older boy when Tamaki only wanted to keep all of them safe and close. "Fine," he mumbled, leaning against Tamaki's shoulder, not minding the embrace this time. "Just tired."
"I'm sorry, Hikaru. I broke our promise . . . but I was so worried . . ."
Hikaru shook his head. "I'm sorry, Tono. It was wrong to ask . . ." Tamaki shushed him and Hikaru sighed. He was just so tired, and there was this weird smell . . . "Um, Tono? You smell like rotten eggs . . ."
The End.
