It was Remus' first time alone with Harry while Sirius and Lily went out for the evening. He knew she needed the break, and he took her out last time, it was only fair after all. It didn't stop her from leaving a to-do list–guidelines, Sirius wrote in–for the almost three-year-old, though. Surely Remus wasn't that incompetent in caring for the child alone? The three managed Harry just fine together, what could go wrong for a few hours watching him solo?

Apparently a lot.

The always prepared Lily had a plate of dinner premade for their little Deerling, and he couldn't help but shake his head as he placed a heating charm on it to warm it up.

Who knew getting a toddler to eat spaghetti would be so messy?

Who knew that he'd be pulling noodles from Harry's soapy, tangled head after coaxing him into the bathtub?

Who knew he would get just as wet as Harry was with all the splashing and bubble throwing?

By the time Remus got Harry's teeth brushed, hair mostly dry, and pajamas on, Remus was exhausted. However, he could handle a five minute story and thirty second bedtime song… right?

When Lily and Sirius got home, the kitchen and bathroom were a mess, the corridor runner rug was damp, and soft snores emitted from Harry's room that were too loud to be the toddlers.

Sirius leaned on the doorframe, folding his arms while quietly chuckling at the sight. "He said he could handle him."

Lily smiled despite herself. "I think he did alright, considering."

"I think I did way better."

Lily nudged Sirius with a shoulder at his gloating.

"Should we leave them be?" Lily whispered, observing the toddler nestled comfortably into Remus' chest.

"For now. We have a huge mess to clean."
