"You want to take a walk? You're going tomorrow, and it's my one las chance to talk to you before you become some big designer and decide that you're too good for us small town kids." Lucas said.
Brooke shoved him playfully, "Shut up." She pushed one shoulder up in a half-shrug, and said with a laugh, "Sure, why not, for old times sake. You sure your girlfriend won't get mad?"
"Nah, she'll be ok."
They walked along in silence for a few minutes, each lost in thought, and then Lucas spoke. "Did you know that I thought I'd never, ever find someone that I loved as much as you?"
Not quite sure what her response to this was supposed to be, Brooke just said, "Really?"
"And then I met Peyton."
Brooke's face fell, "Oh." Had he asked her to walk with him just so they could talk about their past? That subject brought up memories that neither of them wanted to delve into.
"And I still haven't found anyone that made me feel the way you do. You were my first…well, my first a lot of things." Brooke gave him a crooked smile, "But mostly, you were my first love. You don't forget your first love, and all those things I said about you in my book are true. You changed my world, Brooke."
"You know, what I said to when I broke up with you was true too. There's a part of me that still loves you. And, who knows, in four years, after college, that part of me might still love you. Anything can happen, and we'll just have to see where that road takes us."
