~The light turned off~

Hikari looked at her hands. They looked white. She had 3 blankets on her but still felt cold. She knew she couldn't do anything.
Months ago she was daydreaming in class, writing in her notebook and wishing that boy in her dreams would ask her out. She was overjoyed when he finally did, Takeru, that boy who had always had a special place in the girl's heart asked her out. She still could remember it very well.
"Hikari-chan… I know how you like animals so I got you this stuffed kitty…" he said shyly. The girl couldn't help it but smile. She leant forward, she wasn't sure why or what made her do that, and kissed Takeru on the check. A kiss seemed so little but it meant so much. Immediately she noticed what she had done and blushed. What a wonderful moment. Shame was a wonderful feeling. Every and each of them was when you knew you couldn't expect to feel them again. After that little kissing scene they began dating, it seemed their love would last for ever... it did in her case. She loved him until the very last moment.
Life can be so unfair sometimes, and at those moments it makes you be thankful for even the tiniest things, like being embarrassed or having tasted love. The memories of those things were all Hikari had now. Sweet remembrances of her old days, of her happiness. She didn't want to leave, that's for sure, she would have stayed there for ever, with her love… but the hand of destiny had her between its fingers and it's take her away.
Love... love is what keeps you alive and love is what makes your life important. Taichi-oniichan. Mama. Papa. Takeru. Minna. People loved her... but they'd have to learn how to live without her. What hurt her most was leaving them behind. Life was such a wonderful friend, with its ups and its downs, it was perfect, even if sometimes she felt like crying.
Sorrow seemed nothing in front of that end. No life, nothing else, and even if pain wasn't there it was much worse. Because she cared bout them, about everyone, and wanted to keep loving them even after the end. But there was no future for her anymore.
Hikari hugged her stuffed kitty as tight as she could until her strength began fading. She could still see Takeru's tears, he would miss her, but there was nothing else to do. Closing her eyes she let her hands fall lifeless. Takeru's sobbing seemed far behind, now she couldn't turn back. She heard Taichi mumble something. Everyone was sad. Her arms stopped hugging that little kitty and then her life vanished. There was no pain and no joy either, just peace.
The light turned off. With it Hikari's life.
