First One-shot, so don't be too mean. This idea came to me when I was walking home from school whilst listening to this song and I really like this song, it's a real Ron/Hermione one for me.
This story is set 6 months after the final battle and it is the first time Ron tells Hermione he loves her.
Anyways enough chit chat on with the story….

Ron and Hermione walked through the grass on one of the nearby fields of the Burrow. The day was fleeting by, the sun was setting and they were enjoying their last moments alone together before they would have to go back to the Burrow. He held her hand as they walked into grass that eached up to their hips and Hermione abruptly stopped.
"What's wrong?" Ron asked as he turned around and looked at her.
"Snakes." she whispered
"What?" Ron replied
"The long grass could have snakes in it." she said
"Hermione we have to go this way to be able to get back to the Burrow before it gets dark."
"But what if there are snakes?" she asked in a frightened tone.
"Don't worry, I'll protect you." and he gave her his lopsided grin that she loved.
"In fact, I'll carry you so you won't get bitten." He said still grinning and picked her up around her small waist and started to carry her through the grass.
"No, Ron, stop it! Put me down!" she screamed whils laughing at the same time. She made useless attempts to wriggle out of his grip, but he was a lot stronger. They laughed and Hermione lurched herself forward pulling both of them down to the ground. She laughed until her stomach hurt and then she realised that she was basically lying on top of him, but before she could pull away he kissed her softly and slowly, and she couldn't help but smile.

She rolled over to lie next to him and smiled; they just lay there and looked at each other for a few moments. She was about to suggest that maybe they should start heading back when she was caught off guard.
"I love you." he said and her eyes widened.
"What?" she asked feelinga rush of emotions, shock, confusion and mostly absolute joy.
"I-I love you, ever since fourth year, I've always wanted to tell you and I figure now is as good as ever."
She smiled and kissed his cheek.
"I love you too" she whispered and gave him a light kiss. She turned to stand up but Ron grabbed her arm and mumbled,
"Not enough." She grinned and kissed him once more, minutes passed but it felt like seconds, Hermione didn't want to pull away but she knew she had to.
"Come on," she took in a great gush of air and tried to catch her breath
"We have to go back, it's getting dark." He nodded in agreement and he took her hand in his own as they walked back to the burrow, smiling and stealing glances at each other as they went.
