"Hey there, Princess!"
Zelda almost jumped out of her skin. Her jaw hung open in shock over what she had just heard. It was a voice that had never spoken to her before; certainly not from who it had come from.
Link was standing before her. He had a wide grin plaster on his face. He appeared to be trying to look dashing and charming, but was only succeeding to make himself look smug.
"Link!" Zelda exclaimed, astonished. "Did you just speak to me?!"
"Well there's no one else here, is there?!"
Zelda could hardly contain her surprise. She gaped with wide eyes at the young warrior who had just broken his silence. In all the years she had known him, the princess had never heard Link say a single word.
"You...You..." She raised a finger and pointed at him, struggling to find her own voice. "You speak!"
The snooty grin on Link's face widened. "I sure did!"
Zelda stared - then she slapped him.
"OW!" Link cried, clutching his throbbing cheek which had just been struck by the princess. "What the heck was that for?!"
"For never, ever speaking to me until now!" Zelda fumed. "We've known each other for over twenty-five years - and you've never made an attempt to talk to me! Explain why!"
Link shrugged with a smirk. "I guess I just had nothing to say!"
Zelda glared - then slapped Link again.
"OW!" Link rubbed his other cheek, frowning deeply over the physical abuse he was receiving. "Would you cut that out?!"
"That's very rude not to say anything to a lady who makes all the effort to talk to you! Especially when said lady is a princess!"
"Well excuuuuuuuuuusssssssssse me, Princess!"
Zelda's glare disappeared. She stared slack-jawed at Link. Never had she spoken to in such a disrespectful way before. She could feel herself cringing inside. A fire building up inside her from how triggered she was.
"On second thought...I think I like you better when you're silent, Link..."
Zelda slapped the disrespectful hero final time before walking away.
Link rubbed all the spots where the princess had hit him, gritting his teeth as he muttered to himself. "I'm far better off keeping my mouth shut..."
