When the TARDIS landed, the Doctor opened the door and looked at the sky. Such a sunny and bright day! Definitely a Wednesday. At least seemed to be. Sometimes he didn't land exactly where (or when) he wanted to, but this time he thought things have turned out fine. From where he was, he could see Clara in the distance. So beautiful… He slowly started walking towards her.

Clara was in the Maitland's house garden. She was very thoughtful, lost in her memories. She didn't even notice the Doctor was just behind her.

"Tell me it's a Wednesday. It is, isn't it? It looks like a Wednesday… It could be a Wednesday… It is a Wednesday, right?"

Clara turned around to see what that was. She looked pale and he noticed it. It was like she's seen a ghost.

"Clara… You alright?"

He worried about her.

"I am… Yeah… Doctor… I just wasn't expecting to see you today…"

She couldn't believe her eyes. And her feelings and emotions. Surprise. Astonishment. Pain. Sadness. Joy. Love…

"Hm, not a Wednesday then… How long has passed since the last time, when the Emperor proposed to you?"

"Oh, that happened months ago…", she thought. He would still have a couple of adventures with her. Those wonderful days…

"That happened last week, Doctor, but today's Tuesday. You missed it just by a day", she answered instead.

"Can you come with me anyway?"

Those puppy eyes of his! His face lighted up with hope. It was very difficult to face him, but Clara had to. She wanted to memorize every single detail: the delicate eyebrows, the pure and kind eyes, the pretty hair, the chin, the fez he was wearing, the bow tie… She would have gone to the end of the universe with him, but her time with him was over. He had his chance to say goodbye. That was hers.

"I can't, Doctor, but come back tomorrow and I might say yes."

He approached her, closed his eyes for a moment and kissed her forehead as he gently caressed her cheeks. Clara felt like crying, but she held it all inside. She pressed her hands into his and tried to make it last as long as she could. Then he let go of her.

"I'll come back tomorrow then. See you, Clara Oswald."

"Yeah, you see me… Goodbye, Doctor."

He waved at her and gave her one of those smiles that could light up the whole universe. The last one she would ever see. As the Doctor entered the TARDIS and made it disappear, Clara let the tears roll down her face as she put her hands over her heart.
