"Thoughts on dinner, gorgeous?" Jack asked, coming up behind Ianto curled up on the sofa. He leaned over to kiss the back of Ianto's neck.
Ianto reached up to cover Jack's hand on his shoulder. "Not hungry, to be honest."
"Why? What's wrong? You feeling alright?" Jack was around the sofa in a flash, kneeling in front of his partner.
Ianto reached out again for Jack's hand. "I feel ok, physically. Kind of feeling down though. Don't know why."
Jack tightened his hold on Ianto's hand and ran his fingers through Ianto's hair with his free hand, leaning in for a gentle kiss. It wouldn't be the first time Ianto dealt with a low mood. Jack knew he'd covered it up a lot in the 'old days,' often only to spend nights hanging onto Jack like a lifeline. It wasn't as easy to hide now that he couldn't bury it under stacks of filing.
"It's ok," Jack said quietly.
"Thank you," Ianto mumbled.
"Do you want some space?"
"Not really. Rather have the hug."
"I can do that," Jack said, cuddling in beside Ianto.
"I'm glad I have you," Ianto said after a while. "You make tough things a lot easier, Jack."
"That's love, isn't it?" Jack said, holding him close. "Can't always make things go away, but at least makes it a little easier to get through."
