"Guuuummiiii!"

The greenette turned around, to see her best friend, Miku, running towards her.

Now, this was when they were just in second grade. Gumi was 6 at the time. Miku was 7.

Miku's long teal hair flowed in the wind, as she ran towards Gumi, a huge smile on her face, her blue eyes bright, and filled with excitement. A mischievous grin grew on her lips, as she flung herself at Gumi, pulling her into a huge hug. "Gah! Miku!" Gumi gasped, though she had already knew this was coming.

Miku and Gumi had been best friends from the beginning of kindergarten. And they had promised each other, no matter what, they'd be friends from beginning to the end.

"Guuuuummmiiii, I miiiiiissssed yoooouuuuuuu!" Miku complained, hugging her friend tighter, swinging her back and forth.

The children had just gotten off from a long weekend. And it was Tuesday now. They hadn't seen each other since Friday. And Miku had never gotten the chance to play with Gumi out side of school, yet. So of course she missed Gumi.

"Yeah, yeah, I missed you too." Gumi grumbled, furrowing her brows slightly, as she gently pushed Miku away. She wasn't a big fan of hugs, or any type of affection, really. Once and a while was fine, but.. Miku showed a lot of affection. And not just every once and a while. Everyday, more like it. And somehow… it made Gumi feel weird.

Miku grew teary eyed, when Gumi pushed her away. "You don't like it when I hug you?" She asked in a baby-ish voice, with puppy eyes.

Gumi flinched.

Oh god.

Those eyes…

Miku always did this. When someone did something she didn't like, or when she was trying to get her way, teary puppy eyes, and an innocent baby voice was always her excuse.

And it worked, darnit!

Gumi had been trying to avoid this, had tried to avoid this, but nope. Never worked.

Because Miku was special to her, and just the sight of seeing her friend sad was enough to make Gumi uncomfortable. And when a friend was sad, she had to comfort them.

Gumi couldn't count the amount of times she had to comfort Miku when she was upset.

"N-no… That's not it…"

"Yes it is!" Miku yelled in defence, burying her head in her hands, slumping to the ground.

"No… you just caught me off guard, is all…" Gumi cooed, slumping next to her, putting a hand on her shoulder.

Miku shook her head. "You're lying!"

"No…. Miku… I'm sorry…"

"…Then, then prove it to me."

Gumi froze. "…How?" She asked.

Miku was silent for a moment. "I want a hug. A bear hug."

Gumi sighed deeply. "….Fine."

And with that, Gumi spread her arms open, and wrapped her arms around Miku in a tight embrace, leaning her head against Miku's.

"…Is this okay?" Gumi asked.

Miku was silent. But after a moment, all Gumi could hear was laughter. She clenched her teeth and pulled away, looking down to Miku. There was a mischievous gleam in her eyes, and a huge smile spread across her face. She was laughing uncontrollably, now. "Haha! Got you again, Gumi!"

Gumi huffed, and pushed Miku away. "Jeez! I hate when you do that…" She complained.

Miku stood up, still giggling. "Aw, but you love me, so it's okay." Gumi didn't say anything to that.

"Now, c'mon! I bet Rin and Miki are waiting for us!" Miku said with bright eyes, before grabbing Gumi's hand, pulling her along her side, as they explored the play ground.

Miku couldn't see Gumi smiling behind her. It was true. She did love Miku. Dearly. She was her best friend. And she hoped to be her friend forever more.
