Minutes to Midnight by Lina Ben

I don't own Pokemon.

A whole year had passed in the Whisper Forest since the death of the Sneasel clan. Summer the Espeon was still living with her parents Thermal the Flareon and Rainbow the Espeon in their nest. Summer was still searching for Winter but she had no luck finding her blood thirsty brother. Summer's cousins Spring, a female Leafeon and Rain, a male Vaporeon had arrived and were now living with Summer and her parents. Summer tried to talk to her cousins but they barely said a word about why they came to Whisper Forest. It was now morning and Summer was getting ready to go to the Sneasel clan's old nest. "Summer, are you all right?" Spring asked from where she was sitting. "I'm fine; I just have to do something very important today." Summer replied in an icy tone. "I'll come with you." Spring offered. The trees gave their long, sad sighs as a gust of wind blew into the cold forest.

Summer and Spring leapt from tree to tree and shrub to shrub. When they arrived at the old, dusty nest of the Sneasel clan, they could have sworn they heard whispering. Summer nearly dropped the item she was holding in her mouth and let out a small squeak. Spring's breaths were shallow and warm, and Summer's were sharp and soft. The item Summer was holding in her mouth was a small white Lily. Summer and her cousin walked over to a fallen tree and sat down. Summer dropped the Lily onto the ground and said "Please rest in peace Sneasel clan." Summer's voice carried in the wind and heard a faint reply. "Thank you Summer…" the trees whispered. As the trees whispered their thanks Summer and Spring sighed and left to go home.

Summer and Spring arrived home and talked to Rain. Rain smiled as Summer and Spring told him about what they did. Thermal and Rainbow were both preparing dinner as they listened to Summer and Spring talking. As night fell, the family decided to watch the stars as they started to light up, one by one like a Moltres flying through to sky as if lighting them up by himself. Rain and Spring fell asleep and so did Thermal and Rainbow, but Summer remained awake waiting for midnight to come. A few minutes before midnight, Summer whispered only two words. The last thing she said before drifting off to sleep was "I'm sorry..." As the family slept they were oblivious to a pair of blood red eyes watching them.
