Princess Guinevere

Chapter 1 - Gwen's POV

I can't even begin to think about what Arthur just said he can't be with me because of who he is, I always knew that we weren't going to last fairytales aren't real. I need to face the fact that we weren't going to make it I am not of noble birth. My door just went I wonder who it is?

It was Merlin " Gwen the king has requested your presence immediately" I was shocked why would Uther want to see me to him I was a servant not to be talked to. I made my way up to the castle slowly, what was this about?

The doors to the throne room opened and all the members of court were there all except from Arthur, I wonder where he was? I walked down to where Uther sat carefully watching my new ice blue dress move, I got to where he sat and curtseyed "my Lord you wanted to speak with me"

"Yes, Guinevere I would like to tell you something you are a princess of a kingdom far away you are noble by birth but you were adopted as a baby because a sorcerer made certain that you wouldn't make it past your sixteenth birthday, that sorcerer is now dead and you are welcome to go back to your own Kingdom or stay here in the castle of Camelot and give up your right to the throne to your brother"

I couldn't speak I was a princess but Uther was just telling me that my mother was a great singer who introduced great music to the kingdoms, I am going to stay here and learn how to be a princess here.

"My lord I have never thought of such things in my life I would like to ask if I could stay here in Camelot and give up my throne, I do this knowing that I could not rule a kingdom." I was nearly in tears now. First Arthur breaks up with me because I would never be a princess and he would be disobeying his father tells me I am a princess next.

"Princess, I am glad you made that choice now I would like the rest of the court to leave so I could tell Guinevere about her choice and could Arthur's servant wait behind too" we waited until the whole court had left and then Uther started speaking,

"Guinevere I want know the truth is it true about you and Arthur"

"yes it is but he came and visited me this morning and told me it was over we couldn't be together because I wasn't noble"

"Now you are , we will have to throw a feast to celebrate the fact that you are staying with us, I know Arthur thought that I would disapprove but I am really happy for you now we keep this a secret and have you come in late to the feast as I would like to surprise my son and you can borrow one of Morgana's old dresses and Merlin will help you move your stuff."

"Thank you my Lord but I just wanted to say something please call me Gwen, I don't really like being called Guinevere"

"But you are Princess Guinevere"

"As you wish"
