Lucas, from the day he met Maya Hart, never thought she'd pull him by his shirt as close to her face without kissing him. So of course when it happened he was filled with various emotions. Shock, surprise, joy, arousal. It was all overwhelming and exciting, and he didn't want her to let go. Of course it had nothing to do with what he was hoping for. She was not going to kiss him, she was not doing this to be friendly, she was doing this to prove her superiority (which he didn't mind). He questioned it (within reason) and she didn't like that. They were in front of her group, they had just begun, so of course she didn't want him to ruin that within the first few minutes of her leadership.

That was how they got in this position, with him pulled right up to her face. She was saying things he barely understood (he was so distracted by the fact that if he leaned in a little more they'd be kissing). He heard enough to participate in the conversation and react, he just hoped she didn't notice how his voice had changed with this sudden change in position. It seemed though that the way she was speaking to him was different too, almost like flirting? Could it be, was Maya Hart flirting with him? Maybe he was imagining this, maybe this was what he wished was happening. The way she spoke though, it made him double think it all.

"Aw, and what would you like me to call you?" it was purely sarcastic, you could hear the insincerity in the air. It was her in every way, and he loved it. Mad Dog, that was his answer to the question, and he said it with his voice deeper than usual.

Her next reply was going to lead to some trouble or embarrassment, he could already tell. "You don't seem like a mad dog to me." she tried to fake innocence with the voice but she was unsuccessful with it. No matter what he said she'd have a comment back, one meant to take him down a notch.

Despite knowing all this he replied "What do I seem like to you?". All the 'bad' kids were watching, he could feel Darby watching his back, he didn't mind though. If it made her happy he could take the embarrassment.

"You know that lamb that Mary had?" Maya didn't have to say anymore, it was obvious what she meant. She could've said Maya instead of Mary and it would've been accurate. He did trail after her sometimes, he did act like the little lamb from Texas following Miss Maya around. That didn't make it any less embarrassing though.

He didn't know how he'd reply to that, if things had been different he could have replied with something just as embarrassing. She was so close though, he couldn't think correctly. "I don't like the way that this is going." was all he could get out. This comment led to her letting go of him.

Even though she had already turned around and seemed to forget about the moment they had, all he could do was stumble back and keep his eyes on her. He didn't know what she was thinking, if she was even thinking about him. He was thinking about her though, and he was really hoping she was thinking about him.
