A/N: Simon and Nia's anniversary was a little while back, and I finally got around to posting this!

Indigo swathed the sky, pricked by pure white stars every few inches. A red cape fluttered in the slight breeze, and Simon paused at it. "Aniki," he whispered, touching the hilt of the sword stuck in the ground. "Is it nice where you are now?" He closed his eyes, the only sound the gentle flapping of his tattered red cape. "I still miss you."

He took one step, then another, and turned to nearby where she lay. He stared at the monument, wondering if a person without a body could also have a soul. "Nia," he said, barely breathing. "Nia…" He touched the lid of the box on her grave. "I miss you too. Remember, Nia? It was our anniversary today. I brought you a gift." He gently knelt, placing his gift over her grave. "Maybe you know my aniki where you are. I'd like that." He rose, staring blankly over the horizon. It was no longer in him to cry. He had already shed more tears than he could produce. A year of banging on walls, skulking around the city, crying himself to sleep, and there was no more grief in him. Instead, a strange happiness filled him. Even though… Even though they were all gone. Every one of them.

A plain silver ring slid off a white box and made a tiny cling as it tumbled off the rocks below.
