Author Note: Ech. I have no idea where this came from. I've had this insane urge to write but I'm afraid to start anything that I won't finish. So here it is, a oneshot. It might be a little emo/melodramatic. It has slight Crisis Core references but I don't think it could really be considered spoilerific. Just a bit of Reno musing.
They Didn't Mind
Word Count: 332

He just sat there. Strife hadn't spoken a word to him. Not yet anyway. He might soon. Or maybe he just wouldn't say anything at all. Reno continued to stare at the bit of lifestream that had begun to poke, more like flood, through the abandoned church's flooring.
Zack used to come here all the time. Because of the ancient. Aeris. She was always calling him at inoportune times. He'd always answer too. No matter what.
He'd never been friends with Fair. But they'd been companionable. Cissnei always seemed to bring them together the best. All three were gone now though.
Reno sighed. Oddly enough this seemed to catch Cloud's attention. Although he quickly reverted his gaze to it's original position. This suddenly made Reno feel as though he were intruding. He'd never done anything to help. He had no right to be there.
But here he sat. Unmoving. None of them had deserved what had happened. But Reno couldn't help but feel for Zack. He'd always said his goal was to be a hero.
He got his wish didn't he? He saved the savior...
Zack the Puppy. Even if the world didn't know his name. He'd make damn sure he never forgot it.
Standing up, Cloud allowed his gaze to travel to Reno's boots.
"You don't have to leave."
Reno shook his head. Even if Cloud couldn't see it.
"Nah. I've no right to be here." With that Reno turned around and made his way out of the church.
"What makes you think I've any right to be here?"
Reno heard it. He refused to acknowledge Cloud's question. He knew the blonde man blamed himself. Even if no one else did.
Reno knew the truth. Zack wouldn't have had it any other way. Neither would Aeris.
He watched the sky as he walked the path out of the Midgar ruins. The sunshine warmed him, working its' way from the outside, in.
And that's how he knew Cissnei didn't mind.
Author Note: Wooh! You made it through! So I guess if you liked it then review? Or if you didn't like it I'd still like a review. Kay? Oh. And if anyone actually knows what happens to Cissnei feel free to say. As far as I know, nothing happens to her but since she doesn't appear in VII I assume she dies. A bit morbid I suppose but it seemed to fit.
