The loud sounds of Sally's alarm clock filled the room. She groaned slamming her hand against the piece of plastic that sat on her desk side table. She sat up rubbing her eyes, slipping her glasses on. She'd had poor eye sight since she was a small child, and was quite used to the sense of waking up and putting on her wire framed glasses.

Right on cue of her alarm her parents walked through her door holding a cake and singing Happy Birthday. Sally smiled, clapping her hands as they sang. This was a usual tradition with them. They brought the cake in front of her and she squeezed her eyes shut and then blew out her candles. Her mum smiled at her, placing the cake on her desk then handed Sally a small gift.

"It's not much, but daddy and I thought you'd like it." Her mum spoke soft with her Irish accent. Sally kept the smile on her face and ripped the paper off of the small box she'd been handed. Inside was a locket which held a picture of herself and her parents. "I love it, mummy." Sally, said holding it up. Her dad grabbed it and placed it around her neck and clipped it. She looked down at the design rubbing the silver locket.

Her mum grabbed a pony-tail holder from her bed side table and pulled Sally's hair back. Sally had fiery-red hair that was almost a mess to take care of it; her hair was very wavy unlike her mum and dad who both had darker brown hair that was straight.

Sally's father leaned down and kissed Sally on the cheek, and smiled "We're going out for your birthday once I get off work."

"Alright, daddy." Sally said, pulling her covers off of herself and hugging her father. He hugged her tight, then kissed her mum and then stepped out, leaving for work. Sally's mum was a teacher so she got the summer off just like Sally did. This made it where Sally was much more closer to her mum than she was to her dad.

Her mum stood up, grabbing a nice dress from her wardrobe and handing it to Sally. "I'm making breakfast, come down when you're dressed, alright?"

"Okay, mummy." Sally replied, standing up. Her mum closed the door as she left, leaving Sally by herself. She changed quickly, looking at herself in the mirror and admire the necklace her parents had given her.

When she finished, she ran down the stares where her mum had finished making pancake and ham; Sally's favorite. They ate slowly, admiring every single bite. When Sally finished, she ran to the door and picked up the mail, examining every letter like she usually did; but today she'd gotten something surprising. One of the letters was marked for her. She marched back to the kitchen, setting the letters down and sitting back in her stop to open hers.

She ripped it open, leaving the envelope on the table. "What's that, dear?" Her mum asked, sipping a drink of coffee. Sally shrugged, "I don't know. It's marked for me though." She continued looking at the letter, reading it in her head.

Dear ,
We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Sally's heart nearly skipped a beat and she looked at her mum, a smile on her face. "Mummy look, I've been accepted into a school for witches."
