His mother was baking gingerbread cookies, and Cloud Strife was being more of a bother than a help. "Mom, are they done yet? Can I help ice 'em?"
She smiled patiently at him, taking the last batch out of the oven. "After they have time to cool."
Several minutes passed. Cloud stared, head on his hands. "How 'bout now?"
His mother worked carefully, squeezing icing from a tube. Finally, she let him have a turn. "There's me. And you, Mom."
"And who's the third cookie?"
Cloud's little face turned pink. "That one's Tifa."
"She's very pretty." His mother smiled knowingly.
