Van der Waals Forces

Van der Waals forces:

Slight attraction that develops between oppositely charged regions of nearby molecules.

They're like fire and ice, she muses. Hot and cold. Day and Night. Leather pants and fat people. She shudders at the mental image this draws up. Not the best look for Bubba.

She thinks on about the differences between Tony and Ziva. Tall and short. Young and old. Chocolate and diabetics. Different. They shouldn't be good together. And yet, they were.

Well, they would be when they realized that they were good together. She scowls.

They can't even see what's right in front of them, and it's killing her. Every time they look at one another, the affection and friendship and lust and maybe even love is there. But they are trying so hard not to see what's right in front of them that it is straining their partnership.

She continues thinking. Black and white. Happy and sad. Protons and electrons.

And then it comes to her. Science! Everything about them is like science. They are like van der Waals. A slight attraction that develops between oppositely charged regions of nearby molecules.

She knows that, eventually, that slight attraction will become a bigger attraction, until they finally, finally, tell each other that they love one another. It's like science.
