The Writing on the Wall

"Daddy, I don' feel good."
John looked down at three-year-old Sam, who was tugging on his shirt. "What's wrong?"
"My fwoht hurts."
"Fwoht?" John was stumped for a second. "Oh—your throat hurts. Say ahh."
Uh oh. Angry red. White spots. Strep throat, I bet.
"Daddy, where's Dee?"
"He's at school. Here, come up on the couch and relax for a bit." John patted the cushion next to him. "Dean'll be home soon." And we'll go to the clinic.
Forty-five minutes later, Dean trudged through the door. "Dad, I don't feel good."
Oh, boy, I'm in for a long week.
