A group of people stand outside a university auditorium. They came early and the doors weren't open yet. They have been told to meet here by a friend. He has not arrived yet. Snow begins to fall from the sky. Soon, everything is covered with snow. The automatic doors slide open, creating a gateway to warmth. They go inside and find their seats. The snow on their boots begins to melt and glasses begin to fog.
A familiar man with snow white hair comes into the auditorium. He is completely dry. He walks up towards the stage with heavy footsteps. The audience is quiet, waiting for him to speak. He taps the microphone a few times and opens his mouth.
The man mouths a few words but nothing is audible. He doesn't seem to notice but everyone in the audience recognizes him and he is still inaudible. He is Gilbert Beilschimdt and he cannot be here.
Gilbert bows and walks off the stage. He fades into a dark blue mist and is blown away by a wind. The audience becomes sceptical. There is no wind in the auditorium. They reflect on what he could have said. They would ask him but he already left.
A tall blond man shakes his head. Sitting beside him, a brunet with an odd curl poking from his hair sheds some tears. His brother mutters some swear words, how it is such a shame for this to happen, trying not to show his sorrow. The man beside him puts his hand on his shoulder as comfort, although it does not help. A man with wavy, blond hair wipes away a few tears. The man beside him with peculiar eyebrows pats him on the back and says some comforting words. There are more people in distress; the entire auditorium is in distress.
Gilbert would not have said anything about himself, really. Just how he thought of them, how he thought of the audience. The sky clears up and it stops snowing. There are small pale green sprigs on the trees. Nobody questions it although it is late January. They're too frozen inside to say a word. Gilbert doesn't exist in this world anymore as a physical body, only as a fading memory.
He passed away two years ago yet he still clings to life in everybody's hearts.
