The room was dark, only a light bulb hanging from the ceiling spent a dim light. They stood together, both in a fashionable dress usually worn at important meetings or special events. Both with white shirts, black trousers, and black blazers, but these fine clothes were torn and dirty, making them look more dead than alive, especially in combination with their pale skin and black hair.
He was taller than her, and while they stood close together with him staring down directly into her eyes, the light flickered. "Do you like it? It feels just right to me." She nodded in response, letting a tear escape her eye. "I wondered what you were feeling back then, and if it was the same thing that I felt."
More tears began to roll out from her eyes, but they still stared at each other. He raised his hand next to them, holding up two red pills and two blue pills. "Are you ready?" For the first time, she closed her eyes but then turned to look at the small capsules. "The red ones will make it feel funny, the blue ones will just end it."
His voice was soft, his words had always been so kind. He raised his other hand to his head, the cold metal touching his ear. "Though I think I'll take a different approach." She looked at him again, before the room went completely dark for a few seconds. Then, the light went back on, shining even brighter than before, revealing an old, crooked chair just a few steps away from them with a rope on it. "What will you do?" She raised her weak, trembling voice. "The red ones, I guess." He looked at her, obviously surprised about her decision. "Well, then it's settled. Remember, we'll fly home very soon. Just think happy thoughts, whatever happens." She then took the red pill and gulped it down. He watched closely. "It feels exactly like the day this started. Do you know how it feels?"
She cried a little more now, but he calmed her. "Just think happy thoughts, sweetheart." With that, a shot echoed through the room, making her ears hurt, but she didn't really feel the pain. She was somewhat happy. Smiling, she let herself fall to the ground just next to were he lay now and began to catch with her mouth what was now dropping from the ceiling. She then repeated very calm and softly spoken what he had told her.
We'll fly home soon, just think happy thoughts.
With that, she closed her eyes and the room went dark again. This time, forever.
