Amor vincit omnia? (Love conquers all?)
A/N: This is my 3rd submission for Write the Wrong. Some lines are from Shakespeares' Hamlet. The title is in latin. Unbeta'd.
"To be or not to be?"
The words of Hamlet
Float through my thoughts,
A tortured soul--
A kindred spirit.
Those words sum up
The level of my unrest.
'To love or not to love?'

A plume of red,
In a transparent sea.
My dismal sustenance;
Tasteless.
--
I yearn for her;
Her sweet scent,
Her softly sparkling eyes,
The curve of her lips,
The taste of her rich blood.
--
Yet as my teeth
Pierce her soft skin,
All I can taste
Is her longing
For him.
--
Yuuki,
My midnight rose.
She belongs to me,
Completes me
In every -way.
My adorable sister,
My alluring lover,
My other half,
My soul-mate?
--
She was many things:
A prefect at the Academy
Care-free and full of life.
Joyfully protecting
Our secret.
--
Now she is like
The princess locked
In her tower,
To protect her from
The world.
--
Cross or Kuran,
The two sides of her warring.
She assures me
All is well.
And yet I can see
Her struggle.
That sparkle is gone.
Does she hate me?

The clock chimes,
I glance at her sleeping form;
The gentle intake of breath,
That pale stretch of neck.
Tantalizing.
Mouth-watering.
--
She stirs in her slumber,
Mewling in that special way
That is all Yuuki.
--
Only she can bring me a smile,
In the darkness
That is our world.
Vampires and humans,
Their warriors: the Hunters,
And then us
The Pure-bloods.

A whisper brings me back,
Barely audible
And yet it breaks my heart.
"Zero." Kiryuu.

While my love for her
Is absolute.
She is torn,
Torn between two.
Kiryuu--
Her silver-haired knight,
And me--
Her dark prince...
--
'To love or not to love?
That indeed is the question.'
A/N: The challenge for this piece was to write a poem, at least 12 verses long. It had to be from a character's POV, decribing their favourite thing. I must admit this was a little hard to write as I tend to avoid poetry as much as possible--the last time I wrote a poem was about 4 years ago-- but it turned out to be rather fun to write. Hope you guys enjoyed it. Comments would be appreciated. ;D
