Disclamer: Don't own the characters. No profit is being made from this story
A/N: I actually went a different direction with this one. The story is inspired by the band No Doubt and their song "Don't Speak" and takes place a few months after Severus' death.
Summary: Harry has stopped dreaming. When the only tie to a man who died months ago is severed, Harry finds moving on an impossible task.

"We used to be together. Everyday," Harry whispered , brushing the dirt off the cold marble.

"It looks as though you're letting go."

Harry leaned forward, head in his hands, fresh tears rolling down his cheeks. It had been at least a week since his last dream. Severus had visited him that last time, as he had before, wearing simple black robes and a rare smile. And like before, Harry met him body and soul in unbridled passion. Yet, instead of lingering until sunrise, Severus faded quickly into the inky black of Harry's mind with only one sentiment.

"Don't speak."

"I really feel like I am loosing my best friend, Severus!" Harry cried out, his hands slamming into the soft grass. "All you have to do is come back; I don't need your reasons… I just need you."

Choking back a sob, Harry stared down at the flat headstone embedded in the ground, tracing the words he'd helped to choose: A body may perish, but the soul never dies.

"McGonagall said you would know those words, know where they came from," Harry pleaded, his voice falling on truly deaf ears.

"I can't believe you would let this be the end."

The memorial garden remained silent. No sound came, not from the birds, not even from the wind. The silence felt heavy and intentional.

"I get it, Sev. I understand why you are pushing me away and I love you all the more for it. After all, who would want their partner yearning for a… a…" He couldn't bring himself to say it. If he said 'dead man' aloud, reality would crash down upon what little of Harry's sanity remained.

"Fine, don't speak," Harry declared.

"I will come back tomorrow, the next day and the next until you find the words."
