Darkness. That's all he saw. He felt like he was sinking in thick water. He couldn't breath; he could only hold his breath and try to figure out what was happening.

Then he felt as though he was floating back up.

He tried I will himself to move.

To swim to the surface he could see moving agonizingly slowly towards him.

A faint green light appeared. As it got closer he realized it was the water he was in that was tinted the sickly color.

He was so close to the surface now.

A little more and he'd be free.

Free from what?

He had no idea who he was. How he got here.

A since of panic hit him.

He had stopped moving toward the surface and started to sink again.

No!

He started to move as if through jello, flapping his arms and kicking his legs. His lungs were protesting, burning. He started to get to the surface. He could see faint figures above the water line.

The dark haired man sat up in bed, gasping for air. He looked wildly around trying to get his bearings. A hand touched his shoulder and he jerked away, turning over it see a beautiful red haired woman.

"Jason." She said calmly. "What's wrong?"

"Nothing." He said way too quickly and by the look she gave him he knew she didn't buy it.

"So you always wake up in the middle of the night screaming?" She raised an eyebrow.

"Maybe." Jason avoided her gaze as he got up from the bed.

He hated this. Last night was the best night of his life, and now this could ruin it.

He finally spent the night with Barbra Gordon. Batgirl. The person who his teenage brain fantasied about when he had some "alone time." He was also pretty sure he was in love with her but would never admit it.

They teamed up last night to stop a huge drug trafficking ring and somehow they ended up back at her place.

And now his nightmares had to ruin it. He was stupid for staying! That's why he never stayed the night with other girls.

But Babs wasn't a normal girl.

She stood up as well and walked over to him as he stared at the window. She hugged him from behind, well aware they were both still naked, and placed some gentle kisses along his back.

"I have them too." She whispered. "I know. Let me be there for you. Let me help keep the nightmares away."

He turned around and let her hug him properly as he place a kiss on the top of her hair.

"Only if I can be there for you."

"It's a deal." She said looking up at him with a smile.

Kissing each other gently, they knew people would be mad about them being together. But they just couldn't bring themselves to care.
