HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE! I hope you guys have a safe and fun break! Take this time to relax! Have fun! Eat lots of food! I had family members come early this morning and now we're chilling out watching Christmas movies, so I wrote this :P
"Kai!" Nya calls, jogging towards her older brother. The hothead sighs, turning to meet the blackhead.
"What's up, sis?" he answers, slightly grinning.
"We have a problem!" she announces. A frown forms on his face as he clenches his fist, ready to fight.
"Give me a name."
She chuckles. "Not a fight. The guy dressing up as Santa got really sick, and now the kids don't have a Santa!"
"That sucks."
"Kai!"
"What do you want me to do about it?!" he asks.
"Look at the kids! They're so sad! And most of their parents already paid, too. You have to do something, Kai!" Nya pleads.
"Nya..." he trails off, looking towards the line of kids and adults who were all wondering where Santa had gone.
"Kai, please!" she says.
He groans. "I have a feeling I'm going to regret this."
…
And that's how Kai found himself dressed in an oversized Santa costume that smelled faintly of cigarette smoke. He quietly groaned as he sat on the chair.
The kids cheered, and one of the teenage volunteers dressed as an elf began letting the kids in one by one.
Kai lifted up a little boy and sat him on his lap before doing his best attempt of a Santa impression. "Hey there, sonny boy! How are you?"
"Good," he answered.
"What's your name?"
"Alex."
"Nice to meetcha, Alex! How old are you?"
"Seven."
"A fun age. Tell me, what do you want for Christmas?"
The rest of the line went in a similar manner. He sat there and talked to random kids for almost two hours straight. The volunteers brought him water every so often, but he kept going just to make these kids smile.
Then...the fire ninja spotted someone very out of place.
He noticed a tall, scarlet-haired woman standing towards the back of the line with a snickering Nya beside her.
Skylor?
He feels himself heat up. Why was she in the line?! He forced himself to calm down in order to focus on speaking to the few kids that were left. He tries to avert eye contact as the redhead approaches him before sitting on his lap.
Kai tenses, and Skylor chuckles, wrapping her arms around his neck.
"Hey there, Santa," she says. Kai is completely silent.
"H-hey..." he mumbles.
She giggles, looking at him innocently. "Aren't you going to ask me what I want for Christmas?"
"Sky..."
The wielder of amber smirks again. "That's alright." She presses a gentle kiss to Kai's lips after pulling his fake beard down. "Merry Christmas."
