(An Attack On Titan fan fiction)

Prologue

The soft cloud of dust rose from the grass as the horses of the 104th Scout Regiment trod over the land. The green hooded figures marked with the Wings of Freedom rode slowly across the plains. The sun shone down upon the Regiment, raising sweat from their pores as they made their way to the deserts of Wairudo Sanzu.

A dry, hoarse voice came from the back of the group, "Captain Levi, sir. Where is it we are headed, sir?"

The man in front slowly rolled his cowl from his head as it fell to his shoulders he turned his head, his black hair shaded his soft eyes from the sun. A grin came over his face as he calmly said, "If we keep going without distraction, you'll see soon enough." He turned his head back and jerked the reins as his horse began to trot, the group following.

They came upon a large mound of sand, and Levi raised his hand to signal for a stop. He slowly climbed down from his horse, keeping calm, he tugged off his cowl and his Three-Dimensional Maneuvering Device shone in the sunlight. He grabbed the trigger-handles and locked blades into each of them. He slowly began to walk up the hill when he heard loud thudding. He ran up the hill only to look upon a grassy oasis with a large city erected on the coast near the sea surrounded by a wall. But then he looked closer to see someone battling a titan, alone. He darted back to his horse and signaled for the Regiment to move out. As they galloped over the hill they all threw off their cowls and set up their 3-D Maneuvering Devices for a fight.

As they drew closer they saw the details of the titan. It was a 10-meter titan. And it was trying to attack the colony. But before the regiment could get close enough. The person battling the titan had mutilated it and obliterated the nape of the neck. Levi was stunned. Whoever that was, was using a 3-D Maneuvering Device, yet was better than any of the 104th at operating it.

The fighter stopped, noticing the Regiment, and then continued over the wall into the city. The cities gates opened as the 104th Scout Regiment entered. The city was large, two towers stood at the entrance along with a small arrangement of markets and taverns. The smell of fresh baked bread and smoked fish filled the air around the entrance.

A man stood at the entrance and greeted them, "Welcome, gentlemen. I welcome you to Potosuchiru." His voice lowered to a whisper, "Watch yourself, I know who you are, they don't want you here." Then it rose again, "Have a nice stay!"

He watched as the door-keep greet the Scout Regiment from one of the towers. "It's a disappointment, really" He gave a large grin under his masked face, "that they come here, not knowing that their dooms await them, yet they stay anyways." His grin faded and his voice sacrificed the sarcasm, "... Fools."
