Only Dreams
Chapter 1
Once again the alarm clock rang at 6:30 in the morning, another normal day of school Kyriel thought to herself as she undressed out of her pjs and into her school clothes. A plaid short skirt and a black blouse. Don't forget the Chuck Taylors with little pemanent marker doodles all over them. And finally a red bow in the side of her hair to top it off.
After she was dressed, kyriel brushed her teeth, grabbed some toast from her mother, kissed her little brother, and was out the door and off to school. Kyriel is a Junior at Franklin High, in Gary Indiana. Yes, the towns name is Gary (look it up on a map). I am going to take a second to explain to the reader how kyriel's mother is home... if the reader wouldn't mind.
Kryiel's mother is 42 years old and has two children, her name is Sammy, her younger brothers name is Jake. Their mother is twice divorced and currently has a boyfriend, his name being Frank. It just seems that Kyriel's mother just attracts bad situations. Take for instace the reason shes home... She got laid off. Adding on to that, after being laid off the insurace on the kids dropped. The company civilian services representitive said.
" I am so sorry Ms. Laffyette, but your payments are to far behind, and it seems to use your not going to pay them... Find another insurace service... Have a great day."
So you ask how does she keep the house? Well it turns out that Frank, who was spoke of earlier, owns the house and a few around it.
He agreed not to kick them out if she, being kyriels mother, would date him.
He seemed like a nice guy.
I will now take the reader back to the situation at hand.
Walking in to school was one of the biggest dreads that Kyriel had ever known. No one ever talked to her, and when someone managed to say something it was either poking fun at her or a sexually harassing comment of the sort, considering she was a pretty good looking young girl for her age.
