It was nearly twilight in paris when the leather-suited black cat dropped down silently on the balcony of Marinette Dupain-Cheng. He didn't even know for sure if she was in there, below the small door in her room. Chat waited. And watched. Casting an emerald gaze to the sky and resting his elbows against the rail, he blinked hello to the first star that lit up the fading amber glow surrounding the city line.
Chat sighed and let his mind wander to the red, polka dot suit that donned his heart's desire—Ladybug, the heroine of Paris. And his partner of four years.
"Look how she lights up the sky..." he smiled softly, "ma belle, my Ladybug...
"So far she loves me, but I...know her heart belongs to the other me."
"Je t'adore, je t'aime...my lady..
you're my princess, my light, so so real, so right..."
"If someone as beautiful as she,
could love but all of me. Love might just find a way, it's true...
And I love you..."
The young man sighed. "I love you, my lady."
For a moment, he heard the soft wisp of a car pass below. Chat's ears perked up when a door creaked behind him followed by a warm voice.
"Love is beautiful, love is wonderful, love is everything...do you agree, Chaton?"
Chat turned to face her, blinking in surprise. "M-mais oui."
Marinette stifled a giggle and advanced toward him casually. "Look how he lights up my life...I love you..." She cupped his cheek, into which he leaned with an endearing smile.
Marinette concluded just above a whisper, " I love you Adrien. And I love you, Kitty."
Adrien's eyelids fell heavy and closed as he sank into a sudden kiss from his beloved, who secured her love for not one but both sides of him. Puns, schedules, and all.
