Disclaimer: I do not own Victorious, any of Victorious's characters, or the dolphins mentioned in this story. :)
Have you ever almost drowned?
Ever felt the air being pressed from your lungs, with your brain only thinking one thing?
Air, air
The need of air begins as a whispering, then becomes a shouting whirlwind of air air air air air air air air
And you think to yourself that you'll do anything just for one more breath of air.
Traumatizing, right?
Now imagine being held under, trying and trying to go up, up, up to get the air.
All you can feel is the water in your lungs, killing you off from the inside.
And the urge to breathe being so strong that you feel as if you could breathe water, that you'll make yourself breathe water if you have to.
And as you are being pushed further and further under, you begin to feel that surviving is futile, knowing you will not make it back up.
And as you start to see black thoughts, all you can think about is how your last words will be whatever stupid thing you whispered about your stepmother as you angrily stomped away towards the ocean.
Ah yes, the ocean, the place of your very untimely demise.
You begin to wonder if they'll ever find your body.
Or when they'll realize that you aren't with them.
Will they think you've just run away like the petty child that you very much are?
When will they figure out that you're gone?
Will you ever truly be declared dead?
How will they say you died?
Those being your final thoughts, questions just galloping through your head like a herd of wild horses.
Then you are pulled up, the pressure in your lungs decreasing as you breathe and breathe and breathe.
Seeing blurry figures rushing around you right before you turn towards the sand and vomit the water out from inside you.
Then, feeling nothing but tired as they place an oxygen mask over your face, telling you to stay with them and keep your eyes open.
Being carried into the back of an ambulance that you don't remember arriving and closing your exhausted eyes.
That is why I, Jade West, hate the ocean.
Author's Note: Since it was never explained, I attempted to show my view on why I thought Jade hates the ocean, assuming that the dolphin that was mentioned in The Worst Couple was holding her down, almost drowning her.
