After running for almost an hour, Clark collapsed on the ground in a dark, damp, frigid cave. He had to find somewhere to hide for the night because he knew that he couldn't keep running, especially not with all the kryptonite around him.
How was I even able to run, Clark thought? The whole time he ran, he felt like a person who was terribly sick but thought they were getting "better." I'll just take some medicine and I'll be fine, yeah right. I'll just run in a field of kryptonite, yeah right, is more like it.
The question of how escaped his mind for the moment because he was just grateful to be able to run out of there. Whether or not he is found and captured now that he seems to be stuck in the cave for the night is another story.
But something strange was happening to Clark now that he stood up off the cave floor. He felt a surge or power and strength. An overall feeling of warmth in his body and a resurgence of good health swept through him. It was then that he realized the cave he was in was made out of lead. As long as he was in here, he was safe from the kryptonite. He had his powers. He was Superman again.
Lois, Chloe offered, How do you know Lex Luthor? If you can't remember Clark, how do you remember him? Chloe looked at Lois, intrigued, puzzled and concerned.
I, I don't know Chloe, Lois said hesitantly. When you were just talking to me, somehow I had a memory or a vision or something. I remember being dragged down the steps by a woman. She was talking to some man on the phone and after driving for what seemed like hours, they brought me into a room and he was there. Dressed all in black. With an evil look on his face. He left me in a dark room with two guards because he got called away. Something about a Red-Blue thing being spotted in Smallville. Whatever that is. It was cold. I was scared. I remember being frightened and wondering if I would ever get out. I thought the guards were going to hurt me. I prayed for Lex to never come back.
The serious, drained, faint look on Lois' face was alarming. Chloe and Oliver supported her and led her to the couch where they sat her down and covered her with a blanket. Chloe knelt down by Lois's feet.
Lois, its okay. You're safe now. Nothing is going to happen to you, do you understand me? We're going to find Clark and we're going to make sure Lex hurts no one ever again.
I wouldn't be so sure of that now Chloe, Lex said, standing in the front doorway.
