I consider After the Fall to be Season Six, but since it was a short series (17 issues, which I equal to about 8 episodes (I read the issues and kept track of how long each one was, adding up to 2 issues being 40 minutes long to read, with the First Night ones combined to be one episode)), this is my idea of a follow up to finish out the season (and the series).

Starring

David Boreananz as Angel

Vincent Kartheiser as Connor

Amy Acker as Illyria and Winifred Burkle

James Marsters as Spike

Since Gunn's in a coma, Harmony got fired, Lorne backed out of the fight full-time, and Wesley is dead dead, they are not regulars.

9: Forgiveness (Special Guest Stars: Andy Hallett, and J. August Richards) – Angel, Spike, Connor, and Betta George visit Gunn, who is still being guarded by Illyria, at the hospital. Connor, Spike, and George are unwilling to forgive Gunn for what he did during The Fall (Torturing George, killing Connor, and "Being a bloody bastard"). Angel points out that human and vampire Gunn were the same as Angel and Angelus, so Gunn was not himself. They return to the Hyperion and officially re-open Angel Investigations again.

10: Injustice (Guest Star: Mark Lutz) – Angel and Illyria are targeted by a mob for two reasons: to worship Angel for saving them, and to kill Illyria since she almost destroyed time. After she saves their lives, they decide to worship her too, resulting in her, Angel, Connor, Spike, Groo, and George to barricade themselves inside the hotel.

11: Justice (Guest Star: Mark Lutz) – Angel has to address the mob about what he does and what he is, so they can leave.

12: Drusilla (Special Guest Stars: Julie Benz as Darla, Juliet Landau as Drusilla) – Drusilla is in a mental institution and is getting visions of the Fall, then has a mental breakdown.

13: Demon Lords (Special Guest Star: Andy Hallett. Guest Stars: Elisabeth Rohm, Mark Lutz) – Burge and the other lords challenge Angel to their rematch. Groo, Lorne and Kate (Connor's suggestion) help.

14: Boys and Their Toys (Guest Star: Mark Lutz) – Angel and Spike attend a screening for a feature film depicting The Fall of Los Angeles (which is completely inaccurate), where people get turned into their costumes. After recovering the sword Gunn used to kill Angel and being turned into Angel (his costume), Spike relates to him better.

15: Music of the Spheres (Special Guest Star: Andy Hallett) – Lorne, after discovering he has cancer by committing an act so against his nature (murdering Lindsey) sacrifices himself to become the new center of the music of the spheres to save the world.

16: Angel vs. Dracula (Special Guest Star: J. August Richards. Guest Star: Rudolph Martin) – After learning about The Fall, Dracula decides to re-sire Gunn, but instead ends up fighting Illyria. After arguing with Spike and being defeated, Dracula retreats.

17: Emotionally Damaged (Guest Star: Alexa Davalos) – Illyria and Spike discuss her conflicting emotions, while Angel and Connor bond and discuss Darla. Gwen Raiden tries to make up with Connor, but ends up leaving town.

18: Scourge of LA (Guest Stars: Sam Anderson, John Rubinstein, Gerry Becker) – Wolfram and Hart have retreated to a hell dimension to recuperate after The Fall. They hold a conference meeting with their highest executives (Holland Manners, Nathan Reed and Linwood Murrow amongst them). They consider all failures to break Angel's soul, with Holland coming closest to succeeding in breaking Angel's soul and putting him on their side. He is assigned the task of Angel, allowing any of Angel's enemies that are active to get revenge. His first choice is the Scourge, who are still active, though diminished. Seemingly in response, Doyle appears to Angel and informs him of the threat. Doyle isn't sure whether Angel having a son or Spike having a soul is more surprising to him. They fight the Scourge and win. Holland tells the Senior Partners that Angel won't be expecting the next enemy in mind.

19: Be Seeing You (Special Guest Star: Anthony Stewart Head) – In England, Giles is attacked by some the Slayers in his squad, claiming to be part of Eyghon. Angel and Doyle fight about being in love with Cordelia. Giles calls Angel and tells him what had happened. Apparently, after Eyghon was forced out of Angel, he possessed a dead rat in the floorboards, then took over an unconscious homeless man, where he manifested and hid until hearing about the new Slayer army, deciding to use them to spread his influence and have powerful minions at his disposal. He also confirms that he and Buffy are aware of what happened between him and W&H, so as far as he was concerned, they were back on the same side. Angel, Illyria and Doyle go to help Giles (Angel is immune to Eyghon possession due to his soul and demon essences, and he doesn't want Giles to find out about Spike). During the confrontation, Doyle gets possessed and, as Eyghon has Angel and Giles cornered, he possesses Illyria too, but is rejected out of her. Weakened, he is killed by Giles. Angel goes to ask Illyria how she was able to overcome Eyghon, but instead finds Fred.

20: Lost (Special Guest Star: Juliet Landau as Drusilla. Guest Star: Mercedes McNab) – Fred and Illyria now share her body, Fred has Illyria's old powers, and she is angry and vengeful. Her soul had been destroyed by Illyria's resurrection, but her consciousness is back with god-like powers and no soul. She is angry at Angel and Spike for failing to help her (her lack of her soul makes her unable to understand Angel's choice to save thousands in her place) and runs off. She and Illyria fight over control of the body until she/they bump into Drusilla, who offers to help her 'find her sanity'. It is realized that she has had a visit from Holland, because she tells Fred to free herself of all her anger issues, which mostly stem toward Angel and Spike. Doyle and Spike find them and try to suede Fred back to their side. Meanwhile, Angel and Connor run into Harmony, who is on her way to 'someone who can help me find my purpose'. When they get there, Harmony freaks out because Spike and Dru are there. Dru tells Spike that she is all alone now. Spike tells her that he hadn't gotten his soul to hurt her. Harmony starts to whine about how much she had dealt with being with him, but is interrupted by her body exploding into dust. Spike tries to persuade Dru to leave and not give him or Angel any reason to kill her. Spike convinces Fred that she can still be good even without a soul, talking from experience. Dru attacks Angel and Spike is forced to stake her. Later, Spike laments that you never seem to realize how important people were to your life until after they're gone. Fred finally stops, but doesn't want to talk to Angel, only confiding in Spike.

21: Soulless Demons (Guest Star: Sam Anderson) – Doyle mentions a guy he found out about who can separate demon essences from humans. He never did it himself because he found they guy shortly before he died and never got the chance to try, and suggests trying to separate Fred and Illyria from each other. They guy warns them that since Fred doesn't have a soul, it will be hard for him to separate Fred and Illyria's essences, meaning that their traits could be divided between them randomly. Upon doing the spell, it also affects Angel, Spike and Doyle. Turns out the guy was also a client of W&H and was approached by Holland earlier. We now have human Angel, Spike, Doyle and (still as it happens) soulless Fred, Angelus, unsouled Spike, a Brachen demon (Doyle's demon half), and a repowered Illyria. W&H did this to get their demon alters to kill Angel's allies (Especially Doyle) and to recruit Angelus for their cause (Cheating, in other words). The catches are that Illyria still has Fred's memories, so is good, while soulless Spike was already good before getting his soul, so they fight Angelus and the Brachen demon while the others confront the guy. He won't reverse the spell, but says that even if they do, Fred will cease to exist (Her consciousness only appeared because Eyghon's possession of Illyria awakened it, so if they are rejoined, Illyria would return to normal). There was no human soul to separate, therefore, no soul to rejoin. Angelus kills the guy, causing Doyle to do the spell. Fred says that at least she gets to say goodbye this time and promises to leave something for them. After the spell and everyone is rejoined with their demons, Illyria realizes that she kept her powers (thanks to Fred). The Senior Partners (a demonic wolf, ram, and hart in appearance) tell Holland that it is time for Angel to come to them and they are done playing games with him.

22: Angels (Special Guest Stars: Charisma Carpenter, Christian Kane, Andy Hallett, J. August Richards, and Alexis Denisof. Guest Stars: Sam Anderson, Max Perlich) – Holland tells Angel to meet the Senior Partners in their banished hell dimension (which couldn't be found by anyone before because it is located five seconds into the future). Illyria timeslips herself, Angel and Doyle to the dimension, leaving Spike and Connor behind to watch the hotel (Angel won't let Connor come, saying that if he dies, someone has to carry on the fight). Upon arriving, they discover prisoners being held there for disobedience to W&H. Lindsey is amongst them, his soul having been owned by W&H, is being punished for his crimes against them. Angel doesn't free him, but accepts a tip from him on how to stop W&H (Either Angel dies, or W&H dies, he's happy either way). Holland leads Angel to the Senior Partners. They tell Angel that they will corrupt his soul themselves. He is then attacked by W&H's army. Angel realizes that he is all by himself, in a pile of bodies, and bloodied: the vision of his role in the apocalypse for the Senior Partners. But the bodies were of his enemies, not innocents, and the euphoria he felt was not the thrill of slaughter, but the intensity of the battle. More minions approach him holding Doyle and (with difficulty), Illyria. The minion holding Doyle snaps his neck. The Partners say Illyria will be next if Angel doesn't surrender. Angel declares that even if they killed everyone he loved, it would just motivate him to fight harder. Doyle, meanwhile, had gotten back to his feet, snapped his neck back into place, and grabs one of the minion's weapons, stating that they aren't as smart as they seem to think they are, since they forgot that Doyle was half Brachen demon and couldn't die of a broken neck. Then he strikes a Senior Partner, vaporizing it. According to Lindsey, W&H was untouchable except with their own forged weapons. While Illyria distracts the other minions, Angel grabs a weapon and strikes another Partner. The final one hypnotizes Angel with a vision of him and everyone who had ever worked for him in horrible states (Doyle with his skin burned away right before his death, Cordelia in her coma, Wesley with his throat slit, Gunn as a vampire, Lorne drunk and depressed, Fred with Illyria growing inside her, Connor insane post-Jasmine, and Spike burning up from the amulet) saying that they would all be alive and better off without him. Then the vision changes with Angel vanishing, and everybody looks happy. The Partner says that W&H can reverse the damage and death done by his existence, just by letting himself go. Doyle runs up and banishes the last Partner. Doyle tells Angel that he was being deceived and to go before the dimension is destroyed. Angel tries to stay because he felt he deserved it. But Doyle reminds him of how what happened to everybody wasn't because of him, that he had saved them all from dying a lot earlier, and had made their lives worth something. Illyria timeslips herself and Angel out of the dimension as it implodes. Doyle is seen reuniting with Cordelia. Later, Whistler visits Angel and is angry because he banished a major force of evil in the world and warns that there will be a balance, either a great evil will rise, or a great force of good will fall. Angel asks him if W&H's final vision was right. Whistler shrugs, reminding him that the vision of him in the Shanshu prophecy was altered slightly to their benefit, so that one could be too. Later, Angel imagines himself and everyone together in one group again. Then everyone except him vanishes. Even alone, he would keep fighting.

NOTE: Since this season would've taken place in 2007 or so, Glenn Quinn unfortunately would not be able to portray Doyle, hence why he is not credited in any episodes. In this case he would've been recast, so use your imagination as to who Doyle would be played by in this case.
