In the end it's just you and me

Effy lies in her bed and waits. It's been days since she last heard from him and a bad feeling keeps her awake at night and makes it hard to breathe in the day.

She loves him, she knows she does. She loves him because she needs him, she loves him because he's calm while she's not, she loves him because what they have is easy; she loves him because he loves her more.

She couldn't even imagine how strong his feelings were until Cook gave her his notebook. This is love, she thought. Endless.

And Cook promised her he'd find him. She knows Cook, he's a man of his word- he'll do as he promised. However he's everything Freddie isn't; he's everything she is and that's scary sometimes. He's not sweet or easy to handle, he's selfish and lives life on the edge.

That's what they did together, after all. They reached the limits, they tried difference. But she wants it easy and clear not raw. For now.

So she sits and waits, she sits and waits, she sits and waits… trying to think positive, trying to bury deep inside her this persistent feeling, the voice which tells her that something's wrong. Very wrong.

.

The first place he goes after finding out, after realizing what truly happened is Effy's. He promised her he'd bring him back and now there's no return for Freddie. He's worried about her- she's so vulnerable. But she has to know, and he has to be the one to tell her.

.

When Cook enters the room, his expression blank, his eyes dark, his shirt stained - is it blood? she immediately understands.

After he tells her, she doesn't panic like he thought she would. She doesn't break down - neither does she deny the truth. She simply stares at him as he does at her. At the same time the realization hits them both: Freddie is gone forever. He'll never come back, they'll never see him again, talk to him again, hear him again.

Together they burst into tears. Together they must find out how get over it.

.

Hours later they are laid down at her bed, hugging each other tightly. All this time they haven't exchanged a single word but each other's presence is the best comfort. They are both broken yet they are together.

And he loves her. Honestly and deeply.

She always knew that there's something between them, always had been, always will be. She doesn't love him - no, not yet, it's too early to say so. But she always knew they could give it a shot and be in love one day. Not in an ordinary, simple way. After an emotional breakdown she knows she can't handle ordinary or simple.

The time will come to give up her fears and think about Cook. And they'll be in love in their own twisted, fucked up way.

But it will be real.

"It's you and me, babe. It's always gonna be you and me."

Well, I'm a Skins fan and I'm a Cook/Effy fan and after watching the season finale I couldn't but be let down. This was a trial to make things better.

Thank you for reading, leave a review if you have time;)
