A Day in the life of Dr. Angela Ziegler

Mercy stripped off her blood-stained surgical gloves and threw them into a hospital waste bin before collapsing onto a nearby chair, breathing a heavy sigh of relief. It had been a long day for the Swiss medic, which wasn't such a rare thing in the biggest hospital in the Swiss capital of Zurich. It had culminated in a 5-hour long operation on a young child who was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor near her heart. The surgery was now over and the tumor successfully removed but the child had been moved to the intensive care unit for further observation under Mercy's orders. For Angela however, her work was done for the night. "If anyone needs me, call me immediately", she said to the nurses, who nodded in understanding as they went about their work of checking on the other patients of the ward. The blonde-haired medic stood up and stretched her sore arms before taking off her surgical outfit and throwing away those as well. After washing her hands, she then went to her office, where she sat at her computer and put on a pair of glasses before going to work at updating some files. As she worked, she noticed the small pictures she had pasted to the top edge of her monitor. One showed all the old Overwatch members, before the organization was disbanded and the world was enjoying a period of relative peace. She smiled as she looked at the picture, silently naming everyone as she looked at the photo. Jack, Gabriel, Winston, Reinhardt, Lena, Jesse and Torbjorn, everyone was there. The medic frowned slightly as her eyes passed over Gabriel Reyes and Jack Morrison, but it disappeared quickly. She had never approved of their feud back then. Another photo showed her with Genji, Hana and Lucio, all smiling at the camera. That one was taken when she was in Seoul a few months back after an operation in rural China, which coincidentally ended while Lucio was on the Korean leg of his Asian tour. Smiling to herself, she whispered quietly, "I wish I could meet you all again, my friends". She then went back to work, typing on the keyboard, the smile still lingering on her face as her mind was flooded with memories of Overwatch. It wasn't long before the buzzer on her desk sounded, signaling that a patient needed help or the nurses were ill-prepared for a situation. Whatever it was, Angela Ziegler wasn't one to ignore the call of duty. Taking off her glasses slowly, she then strode out of her office, an aura of quiet confidence surrounding her as she walked.
