My second SM fanfic! :D Well, drabble, but yeah.
Haruka watched as Michiru's head broke the surface of the water, followed swiftly by Ami's. They were smiling - laughing, in fact, she realised.
Why did she put herself through this ... annoyance?
There was nothing between them. They went swimming every day for hours on end, emerging wrinkled and shivering but still talking and smiling, walking close together at all times ... but there was nothing between them. Not at all.
No, Michiru was finally discovering something that Haruka had known for years, that it felt amazing to have younger girls looking up to her. What Haruka couldn't get her head around was why it hadn't happened before; Michiru was gorgeous, not to mention posessing jealousy-inducing levels of talent ... ah, so maybe she had her answer there. Half of this friendship ... crush ... whatever, was based on competition.
The other half? Well, that was simple, wasn't it? It was based on the fact that Ami had never had someone focusing entirely on her before; she blossomed under Michiru's attention and in turn lavished Michiru with admiration.
If Haruka gritted her teeth, she could possibly admit that it was quite sweet. But then she relaxed and knew that she was a hypocritical bitch who wanted Michiru all to herself.
So selfish. XD I love Michiru with either of those two, so I'm pretty sure I've written it so that you can interpret this to support both ... hope so, at any rate. Bit short, I know, I might extend it slightly.
All opinions welcome.
