"Hey, aniki?"

"Yes, Sasu-chan?"

"Where has Miyu-san been? I haven't seen her in a while."

Itachi looked down at his younger brother. "She was sent on a mission, otouto. To Kumogakure. The deadline was last week."

"So where is she, then?" Clear black eyes squinted up at Itachi, the little hand squeezing his a little tighter. "Shouldn't she be back by now?"

Itachi kneeled on the hard-packed earth of the training ground, dango clutched in free hand, and Sasuke hastily plopped down beside him. Unlacing his fingers from his little brother's meaty grip, he leaned back slightly and looked into the clouds. "Yes. We are not sure where she is located."

"Well, okay then," Sasuke chirped, licking the sticky sauce off the dango skewer, "I just wanted to show her my new jutsu. Think she'll like it?"

Itachi's under eye twitched slightly, but younger Uchiha didn't notice.

"I mean, she uses the substitution jutsu all the time, right? So wouldn't it be like, so cool, now that I can do it too? It'll be awesome!"

The older sibling let out a small sigh. Miyu was their neighbor, a fellow Uchiha, who would babysit Sasuke daily as an easy D-rank chunin mission. Itachi didn't realize she had been showing him jutsu lately.

"Sasuke-kun, there is a chance that she will not return."

"What? Naw…" Sasuke scoffed, before twiddling with his toothpick idly, "Miyu-san is like, so strong! There's no way anyone could beat her."

The following week, Miyu was returned to the Uchiha Clan in meticulously labeled pieces. The standard shinobi coffin was closed during the service. Drops poured from the sky, until no one could tell whether they were crying or not. And Sasuke's clear onyx eyes clouded, just a little.

Just another one-shot. This doesn't follow the storyline, but I thought I might as well go ahead anyways. Thanks for reading, guys!
