"It wasn't your fault." Fabian said gently, as he placed an arm around KT's shoulders. "I promise."
"Yeah, but...I feel like...Mick was ashamed of me, that's why he never told anyone he had a girlfriend while he was with Amber. Then because of the long distance, he dumped me, only it was really because of Mara." KT bit her lip. "I'm obviously not something to be proud of."
"But you are, KT. You're magic." Fabian said softly, rubbing her shoulder. "Mick just...didn't know what he had when he had it. You deserve better and everyone knows that."
"You really think so?" KT asked, raising her teary eyes to meet his soft, reassuring ones.
"I know so." Fabian said, wiping away a few tears that fell down KT's face. "Don't cry over him because in the end, it's not worth it."
He kissed KT on the cheek and hugged her for a long time.
And it was that exact moment that KT knew.
She'd found a true friend in Fabian.
And she would never let that go.
So for now, she hugged him back and let him comfort her and kissed his cheek in a way of thanks. It was definitely one of her favourite realizations thus far.
