Something simple I wrote about The Doctor's bittersweet dreams where he is reunited with the one he lost.
Disclaimer: I do not own the BBC, Doctor Who or any of its characters. Unfortunately.
The Doctor smiled.
He knew he was dreaming. None of this could ever be real.
Because SHE was here.
He could see her smile. He could hear her laugh.
He gently brushed a small strand of blonde hair out of her face and tucked it behind her ear.
The sunlight glistened through her long eyelashes, a stunning smile on her beautiful face.
He stroked her pale cheek, longing each moment to be real.
"You're beautiful." He whispered, smiling softly.
She blushed slightly.
"Oh, Don't say that." She chuckled, Embarrassed.
His deep brown eyes grew serious.
"I mean it. You are the most beautiful thing I have ever seen."
It was true.
She was the most beautiful, Most wonderful person he had known.
She smiled and caressed the hand that stroked her face.
"I love you."
The Doctor, still dreaming, could feel the tears fall to his pillow. He could hear the humming of the TARDIS, waiting to comfort him.
But he wasn't ready to leave just yet. He had something to say. Something that never got to be said.
He drifted back into the brightly colored dream, her face shining under the brilliant suns.
He smiled, wishing harder than ever for this to be reality.
"I love you."
He said it. He finally said it. He had waited so long.
He closed his eyes and leaned forward, pressing his soft, pink lips to her forehead.
Her smile faded again. He held her hand, trying to keep hold of her, but she was slipping away.
He opened his eyes.
His hearts ached, Two boulders beating against his hollow chest.
More tears soaked the pillow as he carefully held his injured right hand.
The hand was scarred; a deep red gash surrounded by pink flesh.
The only thing he had left of her.
He gently stroked the thin line on the back of his hand, His skin slightly freckled like her face, And just as pale.
He longed so much for her.
The TARDIS buzzed quietly, Humming her Doctor to sleep with a comforting lullaby.
He closed his eyes and waited for slumber to over take him once more. The only way he could see her.
And though every time hurt more than the last, He welcomed each moment with open arms and waited for her to return safely to them, if only in his dreams.
Because if there was one thing he could have, Anything in the entire universe, It would be her.
His precious daughter.
His Jenny.
