"I can not believe you agreed to doing this." KT said.
Mara laughed as she propped the bucket, full of mud and worms, on Mr Sweet's door. "Well, I'd finished all my studying for the day, so I figured why not?" she let out more of a giggle and KT grinned at the sound.
"So, not too much of a goody two shoes after all?" KT asked.
"Oh, I am. But this is the first prank I'll ever pull, and there has to be a first time for everything, right?" she smiled.
"That's true." KT agreed.
"Okay, it's secure!" Mara announced. KT quickly grabbed her arm and they hid around the corner. A few moments later, they heard the door opening and the bucket falling. A yell caused them to burst out laughing and run round the corner. Only it wasn't quite who they thought it would be.
Sure, one of the people was Mr Sweet.
The other was Eddie.
KT's hand flew to her mouth to stifle her laugh and Mara was smiling all over her face, biting her laughter back.
"Oh...my...God..." KT said in between laughs, her hand dropping from her mouth to rest on her side.
Mara giggled.
"Who did this?!" Mr Sweet boomed.
Mara began to get nervous. She bit her lip, and was about to own up when...
"It was me." KT said quickly. "I...I wanted to get Eddie back for the time he put a fake spider in my room and I knew he was in there. I'm sorry, Mr Sweet. I thought he'd leave first and get all of the dirt."
"Miss Rush, you're getting detention tomorrow after school. Now get out!" Mr Sweet said.
KT, Eddie and Mara scrambled away.
"Nice one." Eddie said, grinning good-naturedly before overtaking them to get back to Anubis house.
"Why did you lie like that?" Mara questioned. "It was me too."
KT smiled over at her friend. "Because I didn't want you to get into trouble. I know what your parents are like."
"Thank you, KT." Mara smiled, hugging her curly-haired friend tightly.
KT returned the hug. "You're very welcome."
That's when the two knew that they could definitely be friends.
