Chapter 1
"Prologue"
Annabeth Pov
Athens, Greece 1250 B.C.E
It was noon, the time of the god, Apollo would whisk away the sun and Artemis would bring forth the moon. The loud banter of men could be heard throughout the walls of the palace, unable to delay my presence any longer, I'd make my way down to the feast as Athens had just expanded its empire once more which ought to cause a celebration to be held. Walking down the familiar halls, it had seemed the walls were reflecting the flickering warmth of the fire that lit the path.
I was getting closer to the cheerful banter and the sweet smell of grape juice. Upon entering the feast, my eyes had to adjust to well-lit room as it was filled with candles, no darkness would dare creep into this room as it was not only full of light, but Athenians soldiers and nobles all drunk until their heart was content. Others enjoyed priding themselves with women, it disgusted my eyes of the mess.
"Welcome, my Queen" He announced. The room hushed and everyone had halted and turned their attention to me, dipping their heads even those who were too drunk to walk were able to bow their heads.
I planted on a fake smile and stood upon his stage, feeling a wrapped arm around me. The embrace didn't last long, and I was now sitting beside him. Watching the feast before me, I'd felt a warm hand snatch up mine and I watched him as he guided my hand to his lips, my knuckles received a kiss.
"It seems you`ve been blessed by Aphrodite tonight" He softly spoke.
I simply smiled sweetly in return but there is poison in my words. "I`m blessed by Aphrodite every night clearly your eyes have spoiled by your greed"
"Well, of course, my dear" watching him getting up from his seat and fading into the crowded room full of drunk and satisfied Greeks. I decided to take my leave, knowing I was only sitting to satisfy the eyes of other intoxicated men. I was a woman who was seen by all but touched by none even the man whom I'm married too would not dare lay a hand on my body. I got up from my throne, servants at my very heels followed me. Walking up the stairs and down the hall, I entered the chambers that had the view of the ocean that instantly calmed me as the cool ocean breeze felt relaxing on my bare skin.
I felt someone mutter faintly into my ear, "Destiny" turning around in a heartbeat, I saw no one until I could hear muffled noises of arguing, peeping around the corner, it was the king.
I watched as my servants bowed and left in fear, he searched my chambers until setting forth to my balcony, I made myself appear and he stopped, I was able to detect the amounts liquor that stained on him.
"I've been invented to Troy, the Trojans have finally recognised my power and want to have peace and of course I cannot go without my beautiful queen" He came closer, a smirk appeared on his face, he leaned forward his lips just briskly touching the top of my ear. " I also can't have you scheming behind my back, I've got enough enemies as it is. It wouldn't be wise to leave you to spread ill of me" he suddenly took a step back, his eyes roaming over my body among one final look he spun around and left.
