Hey guys! I have other stories in the works, but this one is just a oneshot that came to me while… oh the horror – shopping! It's the first one I've actually bothered to stick up here. Therefore, I haven't received any feedback what so ever on anything. So I would really love it if you could review and tell me what you thought – comments on style would be especially appreciated. And without further ado…

Wine Red

-edward's eclipse

Wine red, I think as I stare into the mirror.

The colour just accents how abnormally pale I am. In comparison to the deep scarlet, my skin looks like chalk. I glare at the flickering fluorescent lights. The sickly glow they cast over me isn't helping matters. They give me a headache.

I can't believe we are still here.

Right on cue, a loud rapping comes from the changing room door. Alice. I open it for her, sighing reluctantly and rolling my eyes.

"There. I tried it on. Happy?"

I know the answer already. No. Alice could never be finished with shopping. For some unknown reason I don't think I could ever understand – she loves it.

She squeals, and I childishly cover my ears. "Oh Bella, stop being such a baby… For crying out loud – look in the mirror! It looks amazing…" She gushes on, complimenting the virtues of the shirt.

Blankly, I turn once more to the mirror. Alice must be blind, I think. The beautiful girl she is ranting on about is nowhere to be seen. Instead I see myself, looking slightly worse for the wear. Pale, but otherwise completely average. Dark circles under my eyes, only attractive on a vampire.

Which I could still be…. Although it would mean an eternity of shopping with Alice crammed into my time with Edward. I decide it wouldn't matter. Nothing would matter in comparison to that. Eternity with Edward. A small voice breaks into my train of thought though, snapping me out of my reverie.

"… Miss? The store is closing in ten minutes. I suggest you finish up in here soon." A timid looking shop assistant hurries away from Alice and I as fast as she can manage without being rude.

I am shoved back into the tiny room, finally allowed to replace Alice's picks with my own clothes. I let out a sigh of contentment as I feel the familiar fabric of my jeans and tee shirt. Finally. Even Alice has to leave when the shops are closing.

Alice dances over to the cash register, her arms laden with unnecessary bags, leaving me to stumble in a half asleep state past the piles of clothes.

She holds her hand out for the shirt. I innocently widen my eyes. In response, she lets out a sigh of impatience. She has played this game with me already today. Several times actually.

"Edward will love it…"

Against my better judgment, I acquiesce - wordlessly handing the offending garment over. It was on sale anyways. And I'd rather own this than that other… thing she was holding earlier.

Thank god Edward gets back tonight. Apparently we aren't done with the other half of the mall. Ran out of time. I know that resistance is futile, but at least I can demand backup.

I roll my eyes as we walk out of the nameless store, Alice skipping slightly ahead. It's over. I'm safe. A groan escapes my lips. I guess I'd better enjoy my night of freedom with Edward. Tomorrow, tomorrow it begins again.
