Summery: Takes place when Max is at Logan's and Jace is at Max's place.
It's been an hour since Max introduced Jace to Cindy and she left for Logan's. Jace is telling Cindy what happened to her.
"She told me I had two choices. One was to return to Manticore, take their orders, and give my baby like they did to our mothers. Or two, escape Manticore and my baby and I will be free but on the run.
"I didn't know what to do. Manticore was my life and all I know was from them. I was told the world was corrupted and disease ritten. Then I thought about the other others who were free. Back at Manticore, Brin and Zack tried to convince the other and I that it was better out there than back at Manticore. Max told me that too and also I would regret giving up my baby. Soon the answer came."
"What happened, Boo." Cindy asked.
"Lydecker came with a TAC team and Vertes, the woman was going to kill. It was clear that Vertes contacted Lydecker to with information about Max and I to save her own life. Moments later, he shot Vertes. Then called my condition a rare research opportunity. Now I knew Max, Zack, and Brin were right, we are just lab rats to those people.
"I played along while looking for a way to escape. Lydecker soon do me to contact Max. I used her pager number and waited for her to phone back.
"Once Max was in the area and I was left alone, I warned her to escape and evade. When she was leaving the area and the TAC was away from the building I was in, I began my escape but I was spotted. Max returned and I climbed on her motocycle then I felt the shocks."
"What was it?"
"Tasers."
"Damn."
"Max quickly rebbed up her motocycle and they snapped off. Then she brought me here to stay while she gets me a fake passport from one of her contacts.
"You're seriously not going out like that, Jace." Cindy compained.
"Why not?" Jace wondered.
"Those black helicopter boys are looking for you now, you know."
"Yeah, what's your point?"
"They will spot you quick and then beat in your ass." Cindy explained. "I thought you were a soldier, girl. You know you have to blend in."
"I have no other clothes but my Manticore clothes which I left in the place I was hiding. Lydecker probably has his TAC team waiting there."
"You can borrow some of Max's clothes." Cindy replied. "Come one, Original Cindy is going to take you shopping and get you adjusted to the real world."
Jace changed from her cat-suit into a blue T-Shirt and jeans. She took her hair out of her pony and brushed it out.
Then both Cindy and Jace left.
Max returned later with Jace's passport.
"Max, I am ready to go." Called Jace as she walked in the room.
Max stared at Jace. She looked—Different.
"My contact got you your fake passport and a bus ticket to Mexico." Max told her.
They left the apartment to head to were the bus is picking Jace up.
"Max," Jace said as they were walking. "When you see Zack or the others again, can you tell them I'm out."
"I don't think that Zack will trust you yet." Max replied. "Zack doesn't trust me. He won't give me the contact number because I haven't been 'a good little soldier' and leave Seattle. I came close to getting the contact number but Zack terminated it before I could use it."
"He has alway been good at covering his tracks." Jace responded.
Jace looked at the date that was hanging in the nearby store and smiled. "Do you remember what day it is."
Max looked at the date in the store. "It's day of the escape and you finally escaped with the rest of us."
"But it only took eleven years to do it."
