Zane sat in the cab. He was figeting, because of his nerves, he was nervous to get home, because his mother would ask him questions about who he'd been with, what all did they do, blah blah blah!
Both his parents knew he was gay, but they never understood his need for a male companion. Zane knew Riley could be the guy he'd been looking for, just because Riley seemed to need him as much as Zane needed Riley.
The cab stopped just outside his house and Zane paid and popped out with a skip in his step and he remembered his parents wouldn't be home tonight, they would be dancing or something. Zane was glad, he could think about tonight in peace.
Zane opened the door and walked in, the house was warm and familiar, as usual. He grabbed an apple and dumped his jacket on the couch, then went to his room, where he dumped out his phone on the dressers top.
Zane picked up the piece of paper with Riley's number on it, and put it in his little phone book that was attached to the dresser so he wouldn't lose it. He would write it down tomorrow sometime.
After kicking off his shoes, he pulled his shirt off and flopped onto his bed. Riley immediately popped into his head. Why had it taken Riley so long to ask Zane out? Did he really nt know Zane was gay? Or was Riley in doubt? He had come out tonight, somewhat, not many people knew of Riley's Sexuality.
Zane thought back though to the time he first realized he LIKED Riley. Riley was walking down the front steps of the school and had waved at Zane while he talked to an old friend. As Riley smiled shyly at him, Zane felt a pang in his heart, longing for Riley's company., but he realized, with a bit of pain, 'What if Riley wasn't gay?'
But Zane decided to go ahead and give it a try, and had approached Riley.
His back was turned and he was talking ot a girl named, what was it, Anya? They were talking, not really loud, but loud enough for Zane to hear Anya say 'He's gay!'
Zanes heart leaped, was she talking about Riley? Zane hoped so.
Riley turned around with a slightly surprised look on his face, and a blush.
"Hey," Riley said.
Oh no. Zane thought, what should he say? What was he going to say? Zane ended up saying the stupidest thing, at kleast in his mind.
"I think I aced it."
"Huh?" Riley asked, confused.
"The History test. Thanks for wishing me luck." Zane smiled sweetly.
"oh, yeah, your Welcome."
"Now that exams are over and I don't have to study," Zane began, "I don't know what to do with myself."
Zane waited for Riley's reply, he was pleasantly surprised when he got it.
"uhhh, Wanna hang?" Riley asked.
Zanes grin widened into a smile.
"Sure, at the Dot in an hour?" Zane asked back.
"Cool." Riley said with an equally huge smile that made Zane's heart skip a beat. He nodded and turned away.
Zane sighed happily as the memory ended. It had been a perfect moment, when he had arranged a date with Riley.
Then Zane's mind wondered to that kiss at the end of the night at the Mixer.
He was about to get in the cab when Riley had said "Zane!' and he had turned around to look at him, not expecting the kiss at all.
Riley had leaned and and pushed their lips together with passion and out his hand behind Zane's head, not that he would have ran off. The smile Riley left him with was heart melting, and Zane couldn't help but smile all the way home.
