"I hate her!" Dr. Rodney McKay said pacing up and down the floors of his laboratory. "I hate her big brown eyes and long blonde hair."
"Wait! I thought you liked blondes?" Colonel John Sheppard said in a half-serious tone. He was leaning up against one of the walls with his feet crossed and his arms folded crossed his chest watching Rodney rant about his latest encounter with Lieutenant Cadman. He had never seen Rodney get so worked up before. John was really starting to like the lieutenant.
Rodney gave John a look that would scare even the toughest marine. "That is so not the point!"
"Well, then, what exactly is your point? You've been walking up and down these floors ranting for the last twenty minutes and I have no idea what you're saying. I'm not even sure there is a point."
"My point is that Lieutenant Cadman is the most infuriating woman that I have ever met!" Rodney growled. "She is stubborn and arrogant, has absolutely no respect for me at all, and has this annoying little habit of knowing exactly what I am going to say right before I say it. I hate that!"
"Sounds a lot like someone else I know," Sheppard snorted, shifting his position on the wall.
"Don't go there," Rodney warned pointing his finger at John. "Don't you dare!"
John held up his hands in defense, "Hey, all I'm saying is that maybe the reason that you have such a problem with Cadman is that she is so much like you?"
"Yeah, well, I still hate her," Rodney said childishly.
"You don't hate her," Sheppard said knowingly.
"No, I don't. That's part of the problem," Rodney admitted. "I think I love her."
John patted Rodney on the back. "First step of recovery is admitting you have a problem." John pulled Rodney into a hug and patted his back again. "I'm here for you buddy."
"Shut up!" Rodney shoved John off of him
"Good to know that through all of this, you haven't lost your sense of humor," John smirked.
"I hate you!"
"No, you don't. You love me. Although, not as much as Cadman."
"Out!" Rodney bellowed pointing at the door. "Get out before one of these ancient devices gets magically shoved up your ass."
"Jeez, Rodney. You don't have to be so grouchy." John walked towards the door. He turned around suddenly and looked at Rodney mischievously. "Hey, did you ever think that the reason she acts the way she does around you is because you're a grouch."
Rodney though a data pad at John narrowly missing his head and hitting the wall instead. "Okay, maybe you have thought about it," John mumbled and left the lab.
