Hikaru saw it first, in the way Shiro would speak to him and the occasionally stolen glance from Shingo. Jun was new to the team, so she didn't realize it until Shiro was the only one to snap him out of his depression that awful day he came back to Bio Base convinced he was a murderer. Ryuuta felt like kicking himself when he was the last member of the team to figure out that it was all because they were in love, however, he was the one who figured out what to do about it.
And something had to be done. Both Shingo and Shiro had a bad habit of ignoring their own needs for the good of the team... but the team was no longer needed. Gear had been gone for almost a year, but neither of them had had yet to act on their feelings now that they finally had a chance to. Somebody was going to have to get things moving; otherwise they'd just... stay stuck the way they were forever.
"It sure is great that all of us were able to make it today, huh?" Ryuuta stretched his arms in what he hoped was a casual manner. "I can't remember the last time all five of us were together like this." The girls nodded in unison, smiling. As for the last two parts of his plan, they were a few steps ahead of the others, talking quietly like they had ever since they first met. Good, now all he had to do was wait for Jun...
"Hey, you know what would make this day perfect?" On cue, Jun ran up to the two men. "Some ice cream! I think I saw a shop a little while back."
"Let me just get my keys--" With her trademark speed, Jun swiped them from Shingo's pocket, a grin flashing across her face as she tossed them lightly.
"You're not the only person with a license," she reminded him, chucking a thumb in Hikaru's direction. "And race car driver or not, I'm pretty sure you don't want to get behind the wheel again right after a three hour drive. You're staying too, Shiro, you were just going on about working nonstop the past month."
They ran before they could ask any questions, although Ryuuta looked back briefly. They were both watching them leave, too startled to do anything else... and then Shiro gave Shingo a smile that could mean only one thing.
Something told Ryuuta they'd be out for ice cream for a long, long time.
