I'm not entirely sure where this came from... xx My friend requested something about Cheese and this was what sprung to mind xx Please read and review xx
The doctor had regenerated. Again. This time he (still) wasn't ginger and had bottomless brown eyes and a sharp temper. In fact, he was rather similar to his previous form - as far as he could tell so far. He still had the tendency to speak at one hundred miles an hour and blatantly ignore the things right in front of him and he was still a mad man with a box.
This time around though he was more punctual (a fact accredited to River rather than his own driving), he was (somehow) more merciful and he didn't harp on to everyone about guns. He also hated fish fingers. (Custard was a whole other story.)
This time around he couldn't decide what kinds of food he liked best, and there was no Amelia Pond to cook him everything in her house until he found it (this time around, whilst he hadn't been happy to go, he hadn't blown up the TARDIS while regenerating).
So, as soon as he could, he'd taken a bemused River on a date (their first proper date - as far as he was concerned) to a planet in the 42nd century where they had a buffet restaurant containing food from the surrounding thirty six galaxies.
He had to find something that he liked.
Apples were still disgusting. And so were pears, beans, toast, tomatoes, eggs, bacon, grapes, plums, pickled onions and gherkins. Even bananas had lost their appeal.
There were some bizarre dishes and some familiar ones and some familiar ones with bizarre names. But he still couldn't find anything he liked. By now River had finished her own meal and was spending he time watching him and suggesting various combinations, many of which would make a human sick.
And he still couldn't find anything.
It was beginning to annoy him now (it had stopped being funny in the first half an hour and had become irritating fifteen minutes after that).
He was bored now. He just wanted to find something he liked, eat it, and keep it down.
After a few more dishes he returned to the simpler foods - ones he could get in 21st century Earth when visiting the Ponds.
And at long last, after an hour and a quarter, the Doctor found something he liked.
Cheese.
(With tea and sugar. He hadn't lost his fondness for weird combinations.)
It was an obsession to rival his banana one, only much less healthy and a lot worse to eat at bedtime.
(River didn't really care. She just wanted to leave the restaurant. If she stayed for much longer she'd be the size of a house. She decided she needed to visit her parents to show off her husband's new regeneration.)
At least, the Doctor thought as he was dragged back to the TARDIS, Amy will have some in her kitchen.
