A Very Powerful Thing
A laugh can be a very powerful thing. Why, sometimes in life, it's the only weapon we have. And sometimes, it's the only thing Zoro lives for.
Though this sounds foolish, irrational and completely idiotic on some parts, it is also true. Zoros' point of view was often set, he was simple as his captain was hungry, but he recognized a lifeline when he saw it, and a commitment when he made it. After all, one of the things a swordsman of his stature is known for is their loyalty and simplicity when it comes to the nature of seeing things.
If you asked Sanji, Zoro was one of the most simplest life forms out there, seconded only by his captain. Speaking of his captain, a rubber man with dreams bigger than all of them but rivaling the very boy who kept them, Luffy was Zoros' commitment and lifeline. Certain things about the boy under the straw hat for which their crew was named for attracted Zoro on such a subconscious level that even he wasn't totally aware of. But he knew it was there, all the same.
This was the same for every one Luffy seemed to come in contact with on a emotional level.
But regardless, who ever the boy met or went to, he always seemed to come back to one person, one swordsman. He had cried, fought and laughed with him. And mentioning the laughter of the young captain was like saying the word God out loud. It held respect and honor, even if it was only a laugh. But that laughter, that wild grin of anticipation and excitement, either it sent people over the edge or enveloped them in a sense of such simplicity and virtue you felt like your very dreams, your life's' goal were only a breadith away, no matter what was going on the Real World.
Luffy was not one to live in the Real World. It felt uncomfortable, like something other than his red shirt or new shoes. Only Zoro acknowledged this uneasy level and tried his very damnedest to keep the boy living with out fear nor worry in his 'happy place.'
Though Zoro knew consciously that no matter how hard he wield his swords or fought the boy worried everyday, even if he didn't show it.
But his laughter, the mere sound of his voice was agonizingly annoying yet peaceful. It made Zoro wonder if this was his day to die and also made his more relaxed than he had ever been in his life.
Because sometimes, a laugh can be a very powerful thing. And also sometimes, it's only thing to really live for.
