Spoilers for Avengers: Infinity War!
You had no idea where these creatures came from. Although, you suppose the giant ships in the background had something to do with it. You were standing with Steve, Bucky, Nat, T'Challa, and all his men. Ready for anything. Or so you'd hoped. Whatever these creatures were, they were breaking through the barrier, and they showed no signs of slowing down. "Aw, crap." You voiced. Steve looked over at you in slight disbelief, and Bucky wore a small smirk.
When T'Challa gave the order, you all rushed forward. To your deaths. You saw Steve rushed past you, and you almost smiled. Almost. There was nothing funny about this. As you reached the border, you began entering the creature's minds, you were telepathic, killing some, and turning others against each other.
The battle was endless, or it seemed so. But before you knew it, Thanos had arrived. In the flesh; and he was massive. You saw his gauntlet. With five of the six infinity stones. The only one he was missing was the mind stone, which was in Vision. You knew in that moment that you had lost. He was already the most powerful being in the universe. You didn't know why he even needed all six. He could easily wipe out half the universe with those five alone. But you weren't complaining.
Everything was a blur as your friends fought Thanos. You had no idea what to do. You couldn't help. You had previously tried entering his mind, but it gave you a piercing headache. He was too strong. You decided to just stay out of their way, and continue fighting the invaders. You got lost in the battle.
The next thing you know, Wanda is using her powers on Vision, while holding Thanos off. You panicked. You quickly entered Wanda's mind, to give her back up. Her powers increased a decent amount, and she managed to shatter the mind stone, killing Vision in the process. You exited her mind, and gasped. You felt a small amount of emptiness. Then you were whole again. Just like that. Vision was back? You looked on in horror, as Thanos plucked the stone from Visions head, killing him again. The emptiness retook you. Suddenly Thor appeared, shoving an axe into Thanos' chest. Thanos crumpled to the ground. You ran over to Wanda, to see if you could help her. "You should have gone for the head." You look up. Thanos snapped his fingers, and vanished. You panicked. You had no idea what to do.
You hear a voice. "Steve?" Your turn. The voice was Bucky's. His arm started disappearing, turning into ash, consuming the rest of him. "BUCKY!" You yelled, your voice hoarse. In an instant, he was gone. Another hole. You ran over to where he was just standing. "What?" You placed your hand on the ground. "No!" Sam and Groot vanished. More holes. You began to cry. "No, no, no, no, no, no!" T'Challa's gone. More emptiness. Several Wakanda warriors, gone. More emptiness. Wanda, gone. You looked around to make sure everyone else was still there. Then you felt it. From space. Peter. Your eyes widened in realization. "NOOOOOOOOOO!" You crumpled to the ground, hugging your knees to your chest. You let out a strangled, "why?" Steve ran over. "What is it?" You looked up. You managed a barely audible, "Peter." Steve looked down in mourning. "He was just a kid." You sobbed. Steve looked back up at you, before crouching down next to you, wrapping an arm around you. Doing his best to comfort you. You appreciated his efforts, but it didn't do much. It couldn't fill the void you felt.
You felt empty. Like pieces of you had been forcefully ripped from your body. You couldn't handle it. Steve held you as sobs wracked your body. You yelled in anguish.
There was nothing you could do.
