The Chosen
Chapter 1: The Discovery
'Buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz' went the alarm clock next to Amanda's small bed. Her hand slowly rises up and turns it off. As she does this she tells her younger sister to get up also and get into the shower. Her sister gets up and goes into the bathroom but Amanda lays in bed staring at the ceiling for another ten minuets after she got bored with doing that she got up and went to the bathroom door and asks her sister to get out. Her sister came out in a blue towel followed by a wave of steam. Amanda walks in and quickly sweeps her hair up into a messy ponytail and slowly examined herself in the mirror and walks out. As she walks by the kitchen table she picks up her book and plops down on the green overstuffed couch to finish the chapter she had started the night before. The book is about a girl who finds out that she is destined to become a vampire killer. There are two characters, vampires, that Amanda feels like she knows personally. These vampires haunted her dreams and she wondered why nothing like the stuff that happened in the book could ever happen to her. As soon as the question was asked it was answered; there is no such thing as vampires. Suddenly she comes back to the real world and glances up at the clock and it's almost seven. She jumps up and runs into the laundry room and picks up a pair of jeans and a shirt book still in hand. Straightening her clothes she picks up her backpack and bounds out of the house. As she walks down the sidewalk she goes into her bag and pulls her CD player out, pops in her headphones and press play as she slips it back into her bag. Nodding her head to the music she resumes reading her book. She was so into her music and her book she didn't notice that she was crossing a busy street. She looks up from her book just in time to see a blue Mazda coming at her. The car was coming too fast for it to slow down or Amanda to get out of the way. At that moment the car hit her at a decreasing speed. The person stopped the car, picked her up and gently placed her in the backseat and sped to the nearest hospital. Her parents were notified but it was too late by the time they got there she was already in a coma. She lay unconscious in the hospital bed for two weeks. Until one night she lazily opened her eyes and glanced around the white hospital room. At her left her mother was asleep. Not wanting to wake her Amanda reached to the table next to the bed and picks up a magazine. She was flipping through it when she heard the sound of rustling material. She slowly lowers the magazine, she looks around and asks, " Hello? Is anyone there?" Thinking that it is just her imagination in the too quiet hospital she resumes searching through the magazine. But she hears it again, she looks over the magazine and is surprised to see a man standing about five feet away. His eyes were of a piercing blue and his hair a shocking white-blonde. He is wearing a black trench coat, leather pants and a black t-shirt. He smiles wickedly at Amanda. "who are you?" asks Amanda slowly. The man mockingly frowns "I'm hurt, you should know me love," said the man in a heavy British accent, " I'm the one and only man of your dreams," he boasted. Amanda slowly shakes her head and slowly mumbles undecernable worlds but one word is clear enough "Spike".
