5 Things Rachel Berry Loves about Matt Rutherford

5.) She knows it is completely irrational for her hear to flutter every time he calls her baby. There weren't dating when he started it, and were barely becoming friends, but since then he's always done it, and she likes it. A lot.

"Baby, we got to catch up." Matt said softly, placing his hand on her lower back as they followed the rest of New Directions out of the diner.

"Baby, could you please, please, please rub my back?" He'd smile sweetly, and she'd always give in.

"What do you want on your pizza, baby?"

"Baby, please dear god, sit down and be quiet!"

Every time he said something like that, it made her knees tremble, and he knew it! Infuriating man.

4.) When she's with him, there is no underlying need for her to stress herself out by trying to be perfect for him. Everything is simple, because he is completely sure of himself and of her. He understands her. He expects her to be herself.

"Rachel, I want to be with you, the crazily amazing you who gives long speeches and uses big words that I can't even spell. I want the girl that knows exactly who she is, and is not afraid to tell people that. That's the real you, and I'm not ashamed to say you're my girlfriend."

Rachel pretends to not be afraid of anything, but Matt really isn't. He has complete faith and confidence in her (them) all the time, not matter what crazy scheme she's come up with, or whatever mood she's in. He just goes with the flow, and he's exactly what Rachel needs.

3.) He wants her to come to is house and meet his family, unlike Finn, who never let her meet his mother, and never even gave her his address. He has four brothers, and they all love her. His mother is everything a mother should be, and Rachel loves being at their house because everyone welcomes her. She loves his house more than she loves her own (which is not very much since it is mostly empty because her fathers are away most of the time). This family is willing to go on family outings to the park, or to the movies, and play board games and have picnics.

And they like her. They genuinely like her, and it makes her feel happy. Happier than she'd been in a long time.

2.) He's not afraid to talk about the future. She knows he loves her; he made sure she knew, but sometimes she gets insecure about where they're going to be in a year. Obviously, the first year of college is going to be stressful, and it scares her when she thinks about the strain it might put on their relationship. But he doesn't.

"It's going to be fine, Rach!" he laughed. "I love you, you love me, and one day we're going to get married." Her shock only lasts a few moments, but before she can answer, he's kissing her sweetly, and that's that.

Until another time (when they're in their second year of college) she's holding his newborn nephew, Avery, and Matt watches her intently for a long time. He seemed to be concentrating, deep in thought.

"What are you doing?" She asked quietly, trying not to wake up Remy.

"Honestly?" He asked. She nodded for him to continue.

"I was wondering what you'd look like holding our baby." She smiled warmly.

"I love you."

"I love you too."

1.)He wants to stand next to her when she gets her first Tony Award. The fact that he has absolute faith in her ability to receive a Tony is amazing, and makes her tear up the first time he says it. It is not very easy to shock Rachel Berry, but Matt does it all the time. He's always finding ways for her to open up, and relax.

And she loves him for it.
