Water Lily

Author's Notes: This is SO out of boredom. Basically, Lily, or Suiren, her given name, is my newest chara. This is basically her story and how she became an X-Men. And I'm dedicating this to Wu.

A lone girl stared up at the setting sun. This had been quite the busy month, hadn't it? A new home, new friends.....

And a family.

That made her smile.

She finally had a place to belong.

Only a little more than a month ago, the girl, Suiren Maxwell by name, but Lily to all that knew her, had been all but mentally imprisoned by her supposed adoptive parent. Then she'd found out that the man who had practically raised her and her siblings had, in reality, murdered her true parents just to get to her and her older brother and sister.

Kinda put him in a new light, didn't it?

She closed her eyes, opening her mind to the sunset.

"Lily!"

"Lily, where are you?"

Lily Maxwell was seated up her favorite tree, long legs dangling over each side, her violet eyes peering out from the tree. Of course, her siblings were looking for her. They usually were. That's why she was up the tree. She didn't want to be found. She strained her ears to hear what they said.

"You don't think she's run away again, do you?" Her sister asked, her blue eyes downcast.

"Nah." Her brother reassured her. "You know Lily. She wouldn't run away, not when we're the only family she has."

"Well.... That may be true, but still... She's nowhere to be seen." Sora Maxwell pushed her chestnut brown bangs out of her deep blue eyes.

Kori Maxwell leaned against the tree Lily was up. His violet eyes focused on his twin from beneath his messy dark brown bangs. "I don't think Dr. Jameson is our legal guardian." He commented lightly, as if he were discussing the weather instead of the man that had raised the three.

"Well, then who is?" Sora retorted, glaring at him.

He shrugged. "I don't know. But I don't have proof that he's not either." Kori looked up at the sky. "I......" He blinked. "Lily!"

"I've been caught!" Lily squeaked, jumping to the ground. She grinned up at Kori and Sora. "You guys weren't seriously worried about me, were you?"

Sora hugged her baby sister. "We do worry about you, Lily, and we do worry when we can't find you." She held her sister out at arm's length, studying the rather pretty girl. She really looked like their mother, only she had their father's eyes and hair. "You can't run off like that."

"I won't." Lily promised. She grinned, throwing her arms around her sister's neck. "You know I'd never leave you guys without good reason."

"That's what we're afraid of." Kori laughed, walking over by them. He gently kissed Lily's forehead. "If you ever do decide to run away, make sure it's when you *KNOW* we can't be there to protect you, ok, sis?"

Lily nodded, though his comment did confuse her.....
