"Why are you crying?"
In between tears she tried to explain what was happening to this dark-haired stranger. "I-I was playing with this kitten yesterday. So I came back to play again with her today b-but she's gone."
She saw him smile with those sparkling eyes. "That's a stupid reason for crying."
The dark-haired boy was her age – 5 years old. Considering that age, he's got a bad mouth.
She decided to be silent. She loved that kitten. If only she could bring it home, but her parents wouldn't let her. She continued crying with her head buried in her hands.
Mikan heard footsteps. She looked up half expecting for the loud boy to have left but he was there, handing her a pink balloon with a blue one on his other hand.
"What's that for?" she asked and wiped her tears.
He ignored her and said, "Do you have a marker?"
She was puzzled, didn't understand a thing, but responded, "No."
The boy handed her a marker, "Write your wish, any wish, on this."
Mikan always thought that she could only give her wish to a genie, but she followed his instructions. She saw the other guy also writing on his.
"Done?"
She nodded. "What are we gonna do now?"
"Release it."
"What? But I love pink!" she exclaimed.
The boy reached out and forced her to let go of it. In the end he succeeded.
"Look at what you did!" she watched the balloon floating in the sky.
"Instead of whining, just thank me. Your wish will reach heaven and it will be granted."
She digested that. He wasn't that bad after all, she thought.
"What does HN mean?" The boy stared at her and she explained further, "I saw it a while ago; on your balloon."
"Ah, that. Those were my initials."
"What's an initial?"
The boy looked at her, like he couldn't believe she didn't know what that meant. "Stupid-"
"Honey, let's go." her mother called.
And just like he came, he disappeared without notice.
A/N: More chaps to come! Everything else will be explained out in the next chapters.
